Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
How much would you give for a wedding gift for your spouses coworker(they're only work friends)? I'm going with him. It's a Saturday night at Smithtown Landing.
Thanks

Re: Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
you are going to get a ton of opinions here
here is mine I give the same amount for who ever its is no matter where it is (exception maybe really good friends and some family) I don't believe in having to cover your plate I am not paying for someone's wedding so if it only cost them $20 per person or $500 per person it does not influence me.
with that said I personally do minimum $75 per person and never really go over $100 per person. so I would give $150-$200

Oh wow, I was thinking $150. I'll ponder it . I thought you also consider the venue as well.
Thanks

Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
Whatever you want to give. There is NO going rate and there definitely is not a cover your plate.
Give what you can afford. Don't base it on the place or anything more than what you want to give.

My husband just didn't want to feel "weird" at work wondering if she's thinking, "You cheap bast---"!

I'd give $150. It's a work friend. That's about what I got from my co-workers, some less.

Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
I think the average wedding gift in my circle is about $150 per person. That is the average gift we received for our wedding 3 years ago. Obviously, you should give what you can afford. Some people gave more, some gave less. I'd say 75% of couples gave us $350. No one should go broke over a wedding, but just sharing my insight.
It's never 'cheap' to give a gift you can afford.

Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
I personally would give a close friend the same if they were getting married in their backyard or a fancy place.
I would give a cousin the same amount if their reception was at Knights of Columbus or at the Waldorf.
I would give non-close friends/acquaintances the same amount weather the reception was in Long Island or backwaterville KY.
I never take into consideration covering my plate or venue. I give what I can afford in conjunction with how close to the couple I am.
ETA: $150 sounds great. If that's what you were thinking and we are all coming back at about $200 you are in the correct range. If you were thinking $150 that is a very nice gift.

Re: Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
I always consult the list of what ppl gave me... and if they're not on there, then I give $200.

Wedding Gift Question-What's the going rate?
We typically give $300 a couple. For closer friends/family maybe $350. If its a day wedding and someone not so close I have given $250. I got married 5 years ago and the average gift was $150 per person. Give what you can afford.
