Wedding/Eloping gift etiquette
My sitter's 19 yo daughter got married in court a couple of weeks ago. It was unplanned/unannounced until it happend. At first her parents did not approve but her mother (my sitter) was her witness. They plan to have a church wedding in a couple of years. The main reason for getting married was so her husband could get a green card. I didn't even think of getting a gift/card, but when I went to pick up kids today I saw a bunch of cards on the living room table. I should definitely give something but don't know what. WWYD?

I think a gift card is a nice idea. Do they have their own place?

I would get a small gift card...maybe for a restaurant so they can go out and have a celebratory meal.

Yeah, but they still got married-and they need it even more if they ever plan to move out.
I would get a card and give a small gift card or check to say congratulations.
