web marketing recs

My office currently uses web.com for marketing the website, but I think it's a sham and their customer service is the pits. They charge $100/month and we're still half a page down when Googled. Anyone have a recommendation for another company that does something similar?

Do you mean that your company is mid-page when you google your company name? Is your company name a common word/phrase? How long have you been using their services.

SEO is very tricky and changing all the time. It's something you need to be on top of basically on a daily basis. Are they responsible for your website metadata, too? Are they doing content generation for you, too?

For what it's worth, $100/mo is very inexpensive for a marketing service so I'm not exactly sure what they're doing for you. With any other company you are likely to be paying 10 times that amount monthly, easily.

I'm a director of marketing, so I'm happy to help point you in the right direction, but I would not be able to offer recommendations for another company who will only charge $100/mo.

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know they were involved until last week so I have no idea what they actually do for us. I just know they've been a pain to deal with b/c no one here can access the account since it was started in someone else's name that hasn't worked here in almost 2 years. Yet, they're perfectly happy to keep auto-draft going each month without giving us a clue on how to update the contact info.

I think that if my boss had other options to compare and knew they charged more than $100/month, then she would be ok with staying with web.com (as long as the user issue gets worked out). She just wants to see how much other companies are charging.

Funny thing about them not helping us change the user - the credit card they've been using was cancelled b/c of fraud and we're sure they'll be contacting us next week for payment. My boss wants to hold off until they finally resolve the user issue. :D
