Wearing shorts to work?
I've never worn shorts to work....I work in a (mostly) casual office, but I just dont think its appropriate. I do have a few pairs of dressy shorts, that come down to the knee, and I'm having a hard time convincing myself that its ok to wear them. thoughts?

Nope, I would never. And my office is as casual as they come (lots of field workers).. I'd try for a nice, summery, flowy skirt.

I wear shorts that go to my knee, I guess they are called Bermuda. Not jean though, black white khaki etc....

I just saw a fashion segment on this the other day. They said that shorts used to be an absolute no for the workplace, but now they have become acceptable, as long as they are done the right way.

I would stick with capris - there are def some shorts out there that can be dressed up but if it's not done right things can get hairy...

I wore black Bermuda shorts to work once last year and i felt uncomfortable all day. I don't know that I will do it again. They were a dressier fabric but i felt weird. There are a lot of woman at my job that wear them.

I tried the black bermuda shorts once also. My job has NO dress code (think pajamas LOL) but I felt uncomfortable when people would come to my desk b/c when I sat down the shorts were about 2 inches above my knee. So, those are now a weekend item (when I fit into them again LOL)

I'm wearing dressy shorts today... they are navy and come right above my knee. I am wearing a short speeved linen sweater with them.
First thing my boss said to me when I walked in, "great outfit.. it's going to be HOT today!"

I've worn black dress shorts (to the knee) to work quite a few times. I do work in a very casual office, but I dress them up a bit. Other women have too. A low pair of heels and a button down and they look professional enough to me. I see plenty of women in manhattan wearing them. Mine are probably more appropriate than some skirts ppl wear!

i agree w/this-a lot of women wear ridiculous short skirts to work and you can see what they ate for lunch w/them on!

No, it's not acceptable where I work at all. Not even in the departments that have a more relaxed dress code (one company, one dress code, but some people just don't care).
The a/c is cranking in my office in the summer time. I freeze wearing a skirt!

I've worn dress shorts to the knee with a nice shirt tucked in and heels to work, but the shorts have to be clearly dressy and at least to the knee. And it was on a Friday.
The material and length make a huge difference, as well as what you pair it with.
