Re: wearing rosary beads as fashion
oy.
that's all I can think to say. where does any one of us get off ASSuming we know why someone is doning a rosary???
we can "think" we know, but how do we really...in all circumstances.
anything CAN be a sacrilige...(hello, sex before marriage, sex without the intention of procreation, cursing, taking the lords name in vain etc) but this is where we get "offended"?
the short answer is, No, I don't wear one, but NO WAY do I judge anyone who does.
I don't flatter myself to think I can spot a faithfully practicing catholic in any of his or her clothing, whether it be in a nun's habit or in Madonna's belly baring fish net shirt.

I went to catholic school and was taught that you are not allowed to wear rosary beads around your neck they are not a necklace, i go into catholic schools as part of my job and i see the kids all wearing them as necklaces, i think it is accepted now my thoughts are maybe its making the rosary more accessible to the kids and they also wear the bracelets with the saints pictures of jesus and mary pictures on it, at least the kids are into their religion
eta i hate when i see teenagers and such wearing them out and about it the street because you know that is just fashion i think it needs to be done in an appropriate manner
That is so odd, I went to Catholic school as well and I remember learning the rosary in 2nd grade and putting them around my neck because I thought they were pretty. Boy did Sister Mary yell at me!

I went to Catholic school for 12 years and was ALWAYS taught that they should never be worn for fashionable purposes.
