We need a miracle - Mini-update at bottom
I would really love to think that miracles happen...we really need one right now. As some of you may know, our family Golden Retriever is on his second round of chemo for lymphoma. DH was at my parents house today and he told me that he's not doing well. His white count is very low and his bone marrow is not producing cells. They need to take him off the chemo for a while in hopes that his bone marrow will make more cells. The lymph nodes are all swollen again and they are giving him only predisone (sp?) now. DH said he was just laying around today. We were told it would be more aggressive the 2nd time around, but being how fast he went into remission the 1st time, I was very hopeful. He has always been my "lucky puppy" and he was always such a baby pup at heart...even when he topped the scales at over 100 pounds...climbing onto your lap to chew a bone...or jumping up to pick apples off of our apple tree.
I'm really sad right now. Part of me would hate to see him suffer any longer than he needs...the other half of me is selfish, and just wants him here. Some may think "well, he is just a dog", but my parents got him during a very difficult time in all of our lives, particularly mine, and he really brought joy into our lives. I know he needs a miracle and I would love to believe he will get one, but deep in my heart, I know otherwise.
Thanks for listening.

Re: We need a miracle
OMG I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I will definitely pray for him, that the 2nd round does its job Its totally understandable to be down about this, nobody here will say he's "just a dog"!!! I love my dog as much as my DH; some days MORE, I swear. Hang in there, hopefully there IS a miracle for your doggie

UPDATE: Unfortunately this isn't a good update. My DH told me that they will not be putting back on the chemo because they can't. At this point they are just keeping him on the predisone to keep him comfortable until it's time

I am so sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately, I understand it too well. I lost my angel last Thursday. I am praying for your little one. Enjoy the time you have left together and don't give up hope.
