We just put in a new patio... and DH is so stupid.
We just put in a new patio and I let DH have full reign on the project. Well, he put the patio all the way to one side of the house, which looked awkward, but whatever, he didn't want to be close to the neighbors on the other side.
Well, now that the patio is almost complete, I noticed it is about TWO feet from our outdoor Central Air Unit! How STUPID. Now we have to listen to the hummmmmmmmmmm of the unit every time we are outside.
DH doesn't think it's loud. It is loud enough that you can't really hear the other person talking... We have 3/4 acre, and he chooses the spot right on top of the ac unit for the patio.
Don't you think the patio installer should've said something?!?!?!? I cannot believe he didn't. I will post pics when I get home.
Also, Do you think building a cement wall of the same stone (we have some left over from a wall we did) would abate some of the noise?

I agree that was kind of a bad place to put the patio.........but I don't think you can blame your DH entirely. YOU gave him free reign to do whatever he wanted to do - You kind of can't complain about it after the fact !!
And I think the wall would def. help absorb the noise from the AC

I know I gave him free reign... but I am so annoyed. He thinks I am a controlling micromanager when it comes to projects... But this is WHY! Stupid oversights!
Grrrrrr. Pregnancy hormones are getting the best of me.
I will have to ask the patio guy about the possibility of adding a wall with the extra materials.

I would def. think about a wall. I'm sure it would help with the AC noise. But don't close it in completely in case you need work on the unit, but I'm sure you thought of that already. 
ETA: Maybe a water feature nearby to help with the AC noise.

Actually, our deck overlooks our AC unit and I don't really notice it at all. It's just the way it had to be... I bet the stones around it would help a lot. I saw something decorative like that and it made a nice separation.

Maybe you can have them build a flower box/raised planting bed or something along those lines in front of the unit?
