Waterheater problems
Update: It turned out that the oil company covered it and it just needed a clean out, new filters and a once over. Works great now. He also cleaned out the chimney and says we have to have an overhaul of the boiler which is part of our contract.
all for 0 dollars. Yay!!
I have to keep resetting it to get hot water.
Every couple of days.
I read online that it could be a thermostat issue.
Should I call the plumber or the oil company?

Re: Waterheater problems
If you have a service contract with your oil company I would start with them - it may be something that is covered at no charge under that.

Re: Waterheater problems
not that i know what i'm talking about, but in our engineers inspection report, he wrote that we should install a water heater on the boiler and to call a licensed plumber to install.
but it obviously doesn't hurt to start with the oil company!

I have to look at my contract with them. I don't think it's covered but they may service it.
I don't think water heaters are covered in general. If it's just a thermostat that won't be a big deal. If it's the whole thing, it will be.
Hope it's not.
