Anyone else have "texture" problems with food?

I am a fussy eater- as a kid I had lots of food allergies and while I outgrew most of them and eat lots of things I never used to eat, I still find that I can't eat anything soft of squishy. Regardless of taste, I gag. And it bothers me because I want to try and expand my repertoire of foods- I don't really eat most cooked vegetables, for example, or lots of other things that are soft/squishy.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything you can do about it?

my DH hates "leaf-y" things ... salad, spinach, etc .. cannot chew it or get it down. Just hates the texture!

I HATE when vegetable stems with cooked vegetables are too hard. Like with broccoli or cauliflower - I just cut the stem off! ICK!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone else have "texture" problems with food?

I wouldn't eat Snickers bars or apple pie when I was little because there were just too many textures going on there.

Now I wish I didn't like them.....Chat Icon

I am ALL about the texture of food. It is so hard for me to go out to eat, b/c even if it is a food I like, if it is cooked in a way that the texture is not right, I will not eat itChat Icon

Yes!!! Especially with chicken. It can't be too soft or else I get skeeved out! My daughter will not eat apple sauce, mashed potatoes, jello or pudding. Due to the texture.

I couldn't (and still really don't) east shrimp cocktail b/c I didn't like the consistency of the cold, weird texture of the shrimp. Biting into in gives me the chills.

Yeah, I have always thought the same thing about oatmeal. And I have aspired to like cottage cheese because it's a big Body for Life staple, but when I watch a co-worker eat it every morning I want to hurl, so I can't see trying to eat it.

Glad I am not the only one!

The one that always gets me is any kind of juice with pulp. Do not put bits of solids in my liquids!!!

Re: Anyone else have "texture" problems with food?

DH won't eat onions or cooked tomatoes because of the texture.

I can't do anything with fat. If I get so much as a speck of fat on chicked or beef I have to spit it out and I usually can't eat anything else for the rest of the night. Chat Icon
