washing bottles
So... do I hand wash them AND use the sanitizer? Or just the sanitizer?
(Btw, I feel like such an idiot asking such basic questions lol. )

I'm laughing because I can picture you shaking your head as you type your questions
I didn't use one of those bottle sterlizers. I just boiled a big pot of water and dumped the bottles in. I did that twice in a year. I saw no point in drinving myself crazy. I would just wash the bottles with medela soap but then I got over that and started using regular soap. Now I'm putting them in the dishwasher. See a patern? lol

Re: washing bottles
I just throw them all in the dishwasher on the sanitizer/sterilizer setting. If I didn't have a dish washer I would hand wash them in hot soapy water then maybe boil them. You don't have to go crazy "sterilizing" everything because once the object hits the air or you touch it, it's no longer sterile. I just like to deep clean everything prior to the 1st use.

Re: washing bottles
I sterilized them the first time; Once my ped mentioned something about sterliizing bottles when the kids were about 5 months. I figured, well they've made it this far, i think we'reok. 8 months an i havent boiled them since that first time. i just wash them with 7th gen soap.

Re: washing bottles
We boiled them for 5 minutes before the 1st use. Then we just washed them in the sink with regular dish soap. I would occassionaly put the glass ones in the dishwasher if it was convenient. We never had a sanitizer thing.

Re: washing bottles
I used the sterilizer for a few months, until I read that you only have to really sterilize them before the 1st use. Then, I started washing with hot water & soap.

I would boil them in a pot of water before the first use(heck with the bottle sanitizer machine;waste of money) and then use the dishwasher going forward.

I boiled everything to start and then mostly hand washed them. I threw them in the dishwasher occasionally on the top rack. I never used a bottle sterilizer.

I wash with reg soap and then sterilize them. But I did forget a couple of times to sterlize and baby is fine. I think we tend to overthink things. My mom says she boiled the bottles first time around and then only washed them with reg soap, and we turned out fine.
