Washing bottles?

Do you wash your babies bottle right after you feed them or do you through it in the sink and let them pile up on occasion? This is especially geared to people who have more then one on bottles.

Question 2: How often do you sterilize your bottles and nipples? I have Dr. Browns.

thanks.

Re: Washing bottles?

I normally clean them out within the hour and I do not sterilize anymore. DD is almost 15mos. old and we are slowly weaning the bottle. Chat Icon

Re: Washing bottles?

When DS was young and eating every couple of hours I would never let them pile up. WAY TOO MANY. I would wash them with soap and water and then put them in the steralizer. When he was around 6mths I started to put them in the dishwasher.

Re: Washing bottles?

I only have 3 dr browns bottles for #2. I had a ton of Advents with my 1st and it was annoying to clean them all-we let them pile up in the sink then either handwashed or put em in the dishwasher.

Now I rinse it right after she uses it and refill it with water. I hand wash that 1 bottle throughout the day when it gets filmy.

I run them through the dishwasher to clean/sterilize. I only sterilized once with my oldest when they first came out of the box.

I bought the best thing ever-DR browns makes a dishwasher basket for their standard bottles, it holds the parts for 3 bottles. I LOVE IT! Best 5 bucks i ever spent in my life for baby stuff!

I use the drop-ins but I change the nipples each time...and I let them pile up throughout the day and then do one big clean-up. The same goes for my BM bottles...I clean them with soap and water and then sterilize them.

Re: Washing bottles?

If I knew I wouldn't get a chance to clean a used bottle right away, I'd just put it in a bowl of warm soapy water in the sink and let it sit. Later I'd clean the bottles and boil them. I boiled all of my used bottles every night. I also used Dr Brown's bottles and since I boiled them daily, I never had to use any of the cleaning tools or do any crazy scrubbing.

Re: Washing bottles?

I used to rinse them, and let them sit in the sink. At the end of the day, when DD was in bed...I would wash, put them in the sterilizer in the microwave and make new bottles for the next day in the fridge.

It was a very happy day in my house, when I threw away all the bottles and the sterilizer into the trash can Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Washing bottles?

Sometimes I do them right away and others I will do after they pile up a little. I just feel like after having to rush to feed them both i like to be able to hold one of them for a while and the bottles are not a major concern because we have enough bottles and nipples to go awhile. ONce i do wash them I am using scolding hot water and soap to make sure they are clean. Then every few days I sterilze. I just don't see the big deal if they pile up a little. To my husband it is a huge deal. I guess to each his own.Chat Icon

Re: Washing bottles?

I have bottles and sippys. I let them pile up and wash them before I got to bed. If I am running the dishwasher that night then I will throw them in there. I don't sterilize them.

I rinse them out but pile them up during the day, and run the dishwasher every other night (I don't sterilize in addition though Chat Icon )
