I think this storm was on track to be historic and epic up until 11pm last night when it suddenly shifted and weakened. I don't think the weathermen were wrong, they can only tell us what the models tell them.

Exactly.

I'm already tired of all the whining on FB that is was a lame storm...........from the same people who were whining it was going to snow at all. Was it epic? No. But it was a decent snowfall, at least out here in Suffolk. Everyone should just enjoy the day home relaxing and stop whining. Chat Icon

The storm stalled and tracked east. They can only predict. In Suffolk where I am, still going strong. Better safe then sorry. Heck, a kid died in an accident in my town..

YEs...if you are feeling let down because you didn't get your epic historic snowstorm get your asses out here to the east end - we have plenty of white fluffy snow blowing all over the place for you to shovelChat Icon

I am in Queens. We already have 10 inches of snow and it is still snowing. It frustrates me when the news says its a bust in NY when they really only are considering Manhattan. We have not had a plow come through in over 12 hours. I cannot drive and we still have no subway.

Where are you? I am in bayside and not sure we made a foot. Havent measured

Me too. Looks like a foot or so, but the wind is wicked and blowing everything around. Forecast is for more snow, some heavy at times.

Aside from eastern Suffolk was this even a Blizzard!?

YES! The National Weather Service defines a blizzard as a storm which contains large amounts of snow OR blowing snow, with winds in excess of 35 mph and visibilities of less than 1/4 mile for an extended period of time (at least 3 hours).

I'm in Ozone Park and we seem to have about a foot of snow out there and it's still coming down.

I don't think it's lame. We have over a foot of snow (in Nassau) and right now it's coming down pretty strong. I'm happy our power is intact and we're all home and safe.

Um I have more than enough here in Suffolk. Not complaining at all. There's at least 22" and still coming down. It was not lame for all areas. Plus who wants an epic storm with destruction anyway. Sandy was enough!

Re: Was This Blizzard Lame or What?

Maybe they were wrong about NYC and West but here in western suffolk, we are buried and it's still coming down pretty hard. I am glad we didn't have the destructive winds but at the end of the day we will have about 2 feet and that's a lot of snow. I don't blame the weather guys - models change - I just wish the media didn't terrorize everyone so much and make them petrified for their lives.

The forecast was right on where I am at. 20+ inches and still snowing. I wouldn't call almost 2 ft lame.

Still snowing in the fields of Bridgehampton at 10:50 am. Seems there was lots of drifting. Some areas around my house are bare, others have drifts. Hard to tell how much we got.

I think when people say lame they mean in comparison to the Armageddon that was predicted.
Epic, historic, a storm you have never seen the likes of, etc.

We got a ton of snow out here in Suffolk, yes, but nothing more than past storms. In fact less than some past storms.

But I am not complaining. To me a dusting a snow is way too much!

i really believe my boss thinks this!

it took me 2 1/2 hours last night to get to my son's school (a 30 minute trip).

we got about a foot, he got nothing (lives in the city) and can't understand why i am not prepared to work from home today instead of taking care of my son.

Thank you! Believe me, I'm in Suffolk and we got a good 20 inches. Yes, it's a LOT of snow. But like you said, nothing more than past storms.
