W W Y D? (especially the Maryland area peeps!)
DH & I planned a weekend away to visit family this weekend in Maryland.
We could use the time away, thought it would be nice to celebrate Valentine's Day OOT, and it also coincides with my cousin's 3rd birthday party.
We would be driving down from LI on Saturday morning and coming back on Monday afternoon.
I know they got a ton more snow than we did.
Would you still go?
ETA: We'd be going to Bethesda.

Sure. I would imagine by the weekend the roads should be very accessible, unless you are going into the boonies. My parents live in the boonies though (of NYS not MD), and believe it or not, they seem to be much more equipped to handle storms and the clean up then many other areas.
I thought I heard a co-worker mention though today that it may storm again this weekend so I would double check the weather report.

Not in MD, but my family is. Just so you know we all may get another storm Monday, so you may not want to travel this weekend. From WMAR (MD news) In the longer term, our next winter weather maker may approach Maryland as early as Monday. While this may prove to be a weaker "clipper" type storm, bringing only a few inches, that depends a possible coastal storm scenario in the same time frame, so stay tuned!
It is a possibility for us as well.

I live in MD, near Bethesda. The roads will be fine by Saturday but I would be cautious about a Monday return. We are supposed to have an Alberta Clipper system come through, so your drive home could be dicey. Otherwise, come on down!
Oh, and be sure that your family still has power. Bethesda was one of the areas that was especially hard hit with power outages.

Dh was supposed to drive down this weekend to Va just over the DC border for work and his job canceled it because they still haven't recovered from the last 2 storms and there's a 3rd on the way.

I live near Annapolis and all the major highways are FINE. All the school systems have been closed so the bulk of plowing has occurred along those major routes.
The clipper system isn't supposed to "hit" until Monday night, so as long as you leave early you'll definitely be fine.

Re: W W Y D? (especially the Maryland area peeps!)
DH's work is open today so the roads are pretty clear (we are in College Park). I think the only reason UMD is closed is because parking lots and stairs have yet to be cleared. I think it will be okay by tomorrow. There has already been a lot of melting and today is going to be 35 so there will be more melting. It may be a little icy in the morning, but probably not too bad. By the time you get to MD it should be melting again.

Re: W W Y D? (especially the Maryland area peeps!)
Finally the federal government is opening today (delayed opening nonetheless) so tomorrow should be fine. We are supposed to get more snow Monday so that's where my concern would be!
