Vitamin B Questions
I am taking 4mg of folic acid (as directed by my MD) and he also told me to take Vitamin B6 and B12. Now....my husband picked up a bottle of B12 for me and it is 1000mcg/day. Ok...but there was no Vitamin B6 in it. So...I went and bought another bottle that had the B6 5mg, but no B12. What is the rec. dosing of B6 for obsetrical reasons? Does anyone know. Now along with the B6, the Vitamin contains Thiamin 15mg, Riboflavin 10mg, Niacin 50mg, Pantothenic Acid 10mg. and Vitamin C (no folic acid or B12 b/c i know I am already taking the RDA for both of them).
So basically everyday I am taking: Primacare 1 (rec. by MD) ASA 81mg (Rec. by MD) Folic Acid (rec. by MD) Vitamin B12 B Complex w/ C. AHHH!!!!! so many vitamin and the B's are the only ones that have me confused!!!!

There are two vitamins available by prescription that have FA, B6 and B12. One is Folgard and one is Metanx. Is this for MTHFR?

I have read that Metanx is really the best one. My insurance doesn't cover it because it is a vitamin so it costs around $26 a month. MTHFR is the inability of your body to break down FA helping to cause small clots in vessels(like uterus, placenta etc.) Metanx is a form of FA that is already broken down so your body can absorb it. I would ask your Dr for it. NONE of my Dr's had heard about it but they have all looked it up in their prescription books and written me a scrip. It will be more effective and you will take 3 pills to one.
PS it's pronounced Met an ex
