Video or regular monitor?

I am currently registered for a regular monitor but I am considering switching to a video monitor.

Which one are you going to use and why?

We have a regular one - the FP Lights & Sounds. We've been using it for 2 years, and when my son came along we just got another set for it and my daughter's room is on channel A and my son's is on channel B. It picks up all the sighs, when they roll over, etc. so we never felt the need for a video one.

Re: Video or regular monitor?

When I first had DS1, I was against the video monitor...thought it was a silly waste of money. But then once he became more mobile in his crib I'd end up worrying what he was doing. He'd kick out of the swaddle blanket and I'd worry it would end up over his head, stuff like that.

Now I don't think I could go back!

I vote for the video monitor. At first I wasnt going to get one b/c of the price. Very often my dd is in her crib making noise and skwirming around. If I didnt have the video monitor, I would have to get out of bed and walk to her room only to see that she doen't reallly need me. In the middle of the night, I am VERY thankful to have the video version.

I have the video and love it!

Although now at 7 months that he is all over the crib, sometimes I just get a view of a foot! Chat Icon

But it was very comforting when he was smaller to be able to see him.

Video for the simple fact that you can see them breathe in it. As a new mom(and still now) I was paraniod with SIDS and breathing. You can see and hear breathing in the Summer monitor. It was the best thing I got at my shower hands down!

Re: Video or regular monitor?

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE my video monitor..especially since im a first time mom..i could just set it up facing my dd and if she cried i could just see if she was ok...i didnt mount it..i just leave it free..and i can take it to my parents house..or where ever

also on a more serious note..i have a friend who's ds was crying in his crib..and she was checking on him through her monitor and he was fine..but he kept crying and when she looked at it ...he was convulsing..she ran in there and he was covered in vomit..and choking..long story short..she was so grateful for that monitor..HTH..Chat Icon

Re: Video or regular monitor?

I originally only had the regular monitor. Then after my DD started moving around more I wanted to get the video monitor. The video monitor has really given me peace of mind. I would highly recommend it. We actually use both now.

Re: Video or regular monitor?

I have a video, we've used it for almost a year.

I love that I can check on DD without peeking in her room and chancing waking her up.

Sometimes she cries in her sleep and with the video monitor i can see that so i dont go in and wind up waking her up.

I also have a bi level house and it saves me a trip up the stairs to see what's she up too.

Hmm .. now I wonder if I should switch to the video. We are moving to a split level house, so it seems like I may want to have the video so I don't have to run up and down the stairs a million times. I just wish they weren't so expensive!

Re: Video or regular monitor?

I want a video because I am a neurotic but my husband insists we don't need one because we live in a ranch.

Maybe I'll have to register for one by accident Chat Icon
