Lastly, everyone in life has a choice but with that comes consequence. You have a right to not get the vaccine but the you can't continually complain about all of the things you can't do because of that choice. Sorry but you don't get to have your cake and eat it too. We're trying to end a pandemic that crippled the ENTIRE globe, if you have to be inconvenienced for a bit until this is behind us then so be it. Don't like it? Get vaccinated.

Exactly!!!!!!

I'm so tired of the complaining and downplaying of the seriousness of this. Very selfish.

Exactly!!! The continuing chorus of "I don't want to quarantine!", "I don't want to wear a mask!", "I don't want to get the vaccine" is so tiring. "They" want this pandemic to just "go away" but refuse to help be a part of the solution. Chat Icon

Do you see the numbers? We are in a great place and if that is because the vaccine, good. We do need to move on and going maskless now at most places is making things feel more normal.

Quoting myself about numbers as we were talking about this last night at a family bday get together. We all feel (and some had Covid) that people have just stopped getting tested. People are realizing they can just stay home if they feel sick like they normally would. The ones that are really bad and hospitalized are not dying as Suffolk has had no deaths in many days. They know how to control this now.

The reason it's still a good idea to get tested if you think you might have it is for the people you were around. It's unfair to not let people know they were exposed.

Have you run to the doctor each and every time you have been sick?

Getting tested for COVID takes 5 minutes so if you suspect you have it you should absolutely get tested and give the people around you a heads up. It's a simple courtesy and helps to keep infection rates low.

Why do you argue EVERYTHING and always insist on doing the opposite of everyone else? Chat Icon

If I have fever and Covid like symptoms, yes. I go to the dr. I was sick w fever and some symptoms - it was a stomach flu. The next time I had fever and symptoms, it was Covid.
If I get sick again and present with fever, I will test again so I can alert anyone I was around. Covid isn’t gone. It’s still here. People can still get very ill and die.

Less people are testing it seems from the charts online.

Less people are testing because you don’t need to test to do anything anymore. A lot of people found out they had Covid with random testing (test to fly, test for dr appt/surgery, test to go to a wedding, etc) plus I know (people in my town / acquaintances) at least a Handful of people who refused to test while sick because they couldn’t afford their kids to be home from school or to miss 2 weeks of work

Right now I’m in NC for the weekend..no masks anywhere. It’s fantastic!! My husband is a performer in a tribute band out of LI and he is waiting for all the clubs to open in NY at full capacity. So far he is still playing upstate but outdoors but they still have there vaccinated and testing rules which is ridiculous for outdoors.

Wow that stinks as bands on the island have been playing with no restrictions, just less crowds.

While I don’t know every state, it seems NY either don’t know they can go without masks or are still choosing not wear them while other places are much more lax.
Nothing new though as most other states people are much more relaxed.

Why are you harping on this? People will unmask when they are ready, not just because NY said they can. Who cares if it's tomorrow, next month or next year. You have such obvious disdain for anyone who isn't immediately hopping on the no mask train. Why do you care what everyone else is doing especially when it doesn't affect you. I personally have no problem taking my mask off but I respect those that don't want to for whatever reason. You should too.

Hofstra, Can i ask you why you are harping on anything anyone says that is not your own views? I've seen the back and forth on many posts and its insane how people keep being Citizens of the Net. So what someone says something you don't agree with or like...on the internet...why does this bother you so much?

NC was always relaxed. I went to a wedding in March and no one wore masks not even the people working. I have another wedding in June and it will be the same situation.

I'm not "bothered" and certainly not losing sleep over anything VB says on this forum. That being said, many would agree that this posters repetitive comments not only distract from every conversation but they also show a lack of understanding. She's commented a million times now about those "who didn't get the mask memo" and many have repeatedly responded to her saying that it'll take time for some to get on board with the mandate being lifted. Still she can't miss an opportunity to make some snide remark about anyone who continues to wear a mask. It's weird. Who cares who wears a mask and who doesn't?

It seems like everyone is just so more relaxed outside of the tri-state area. Not sure if it is the keeping up with the Jones’ thing but I know so many people who have moved away and they are just so more lax and have a better quality of life.

I have been out on LI this weekend and have found VERY few people that have gone without masks. Honestly the majority of the stores/restaurants that I have been to still have signs up saying that masks are required. Just because NY says people don't have to wear masks, most businesses I have been to still require it.

Wow I have only been to 1 place that said masks required.
Last weekend no one wore them where I went but it was a more social setting.

Re: Venues in NY can operate at 100% capacity..

I haven't been out too much during this weekend because of the rain, but today we went for brunch and most people were wearing masks in the side walks and restaurants (NYC). I went to some of my DS's baseball games and no masks, but it was outside and many of the parents mentioned their kids having their first dose, so my guess is that parents were also vaccinated. In the stores (rite aid, Duane ready, Whole Foods, target, etc), people were wearing masks normally.

It seems that it bothers you because your the one mainly commenting back to her about anything she says. If you don't care then let it be. Theres no need to "quote" everything and prove a point or be nasty.

I really would love to see if people would be nasty like i've seen on this board if you saw them in person face to face or people are keyboard bullies.

I think they are azzholes in real life just like on here. You can’t be so condescending and nasty behind a keyboard without some of that seeping out in real life.

I'm not "bothered" and certainly not losing sleep over anything VB says on this forum. That being said, many would agree that this posters repetitive comments not only distract from every conversation but they also show a lack of understanding. She's commented a million times now about those "who didn't get the mask memo" and many have repeatedly responded to her saying that it'll take time for some to get on board with the mandate being lifted. Still she can't miss an opportunity to make some snide remark about anyone who continues to wear a mask. It's weird. Who cares who wears a mask and who doesn't?

It seems that it bothers you because your the one mainly commenting back to her about anything she says. If you don't care then let it be. Theres no need to "quote" everything and prove a point or be nasty.

I really would love to see if people would be nasty like i've seen on this board if you saw them in person face to face or people are keyboard bullies.

Tourist actually was the first to say about “not getting the memo” and I said it twice. Not a hundred, or a thousand or even a million times as she has stated.
Everything I say bothers her as I have proved it before with others saying the exact same thing.
I think she is the same bully IRL as she is here.

NC was always relaxed. I went to a wedding in March and no one wore masks not even the people working. I have another wedding in June and it will be the same situation.

It seems like everyone is just so more relaxed outside of the tri-state area. Not sure if it is the keeping up with the Jones’ thing but I know so many people who have moved away and they are just so more lax and have a better quality of life.

Maybe “they are more relaxed” outside of NY because very few places were hit as hard as NY. So maybe NYers have more of a reason for not being quite so “relaxed”

I think weather has a lot to do with it too. I know that when I'm faced with 7 months of horrible weather, where even by Memorial Day it's still freezing and wretched, I get super depressed. When I'm somewhere with nicer weather and more sunshine, I'm much more relaxed and in a better mood. It's a known fact that sunlight and Vitamin D work wonders on mood. My friend actually went off her anxiety meds after she moved out of state to a better climate. Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real thing . The Northeast is not good for people who suffer from it

Absolutely. Last weekend was amazing here and people being outside and having things back to normal was wonderful for them. This weekend people were trudging along in the stores looking so unhappy.

I think many places were hit hard so you can’t blame it on that. In general people are nastier and always trying to compete with one another in NY.
If this person ever lived out of state or knew someone who has, she would know the difference. It is like night and day in many places.

I have to say I felt like I was back in 2019 this weekend in NJ. There was hardly a mask in site, things were wide open, crowded restaurants, etc. It felt surreal. I know going back to long Island it will be the complete opposite
