VENT - Health Insurance CoPay
Just got on hubby's health plan - and they just switched from BCBS to Health Net.... and come to just find out that the copay for a hospital stay......
drum roll pleez...................
Frickin $1500 - what a damper that puts on a Friday nite!!!

OMG...
Our's is $300 for a hospital stay and I thought that was alot. But are you sure it applies to your hospital stay when you give birth as well? Mine doesnt. I didnt pay a dime for anything at the hospital when I had DS.

wow ya thats what it would be if i go under my husbands insurance im purposely staying under my own from work because my co-payment is only $500.00 for the entire stay

I am almost sure - of course they are closed until Monday - and from what I read online - YEAH it's 1500....
DH called work - to question - and apparently EVERYONE is dissapointed with this plan for one reason or another....
I am so NOT happy right now......

Here is the thing...I worked in health insurance for years. Its not the health insurance companys fault.
The plans are tailored to the company who are purchasing them's likes and needs. So the complaining needs to go to your husbands JOB. That means they choose a lower rated plan. They have options , of which plans they want, a higher copay to you, less expensive plan, a lower copay means a more expensive plan...Meaning they pay less for the plan and in turn your copays and deductibles go up. In todays economy I fear we will be seeing a LOT more of this unfortunatly.
It still sucks though and Im sorry. Ours is $750 a hospital stay and I thought that was bad...

my DHs company plan just changed as well.. we are still with BCBS but our Hosp Co-Pay went from $150 to $500.
$1500 is high... sucks... sorryy

That's crazy! Maybe you could work out a payment plan with the hospital for the copay so you don't have to give the whole thing in one shot?

I agree. I would work out a payment plan. DH and I have pretty high co-pays and within the last year we each had to be hospitalized so $300 each and both of us and our son had surgical procedure which is another $200 each. I called everyone and told them I will be making monthly payments of $50-100 until they are paid off...they'll be getting their money in 2-3 months but it is better than not at all!

I have Health Net, my copay for the hospital is only $500. It is not the insurance company that sets the copay, it is the company, what they set the plan up as.
Our specialist copays just went from 25 to 40 this year, so that the cost of the insurance stays down.
That could be why yours is 1500-to keep other costs down.
