VBAC

I had my daughter by c-section. I have read up about VBAC & I know for sure that is the route I plan to go this time around. I spoke with the doctor at my last check up in July & I mentioned that I would be TTC within the year & she said that I am a candidate for VBAC. I'm pretty sure that they support VBACs, but I may have to change insurance soon & I might not be able to use them.

Has anybody here had a successful VBAC? And for anyone who wanted a VBAC, was your doctor (or midwife... I think I may go this way) supportive or does your doctor not work with VBACs? I'm just curious if I'm to have trouble finding a doctor in case I do have to switch.

It's a vaginal birth after c-section.

Yes, ME Chat Icon I was really happy and beyond thrilled to have been able to do so. If you check the related links at the bottom, you can see I put my DD's VBAC birth story on last year.

Any other questions, just let me know!

It depends alot on the reasons that you had a c/s in the first place.

I had one b/c of size and position. That's usually not a reason to be a candidate for VBAC, but I was surprised, both my midwife and OB were open to the idea. They told me that they would monitor the weight of the baby and if it stayed low and if I went early, they had no problem with the VBAC. At 37.5 weeks, DS#2 measured 10.5 pounds and they said that was it - cs#2 - and that was DS's exact weight. But it was nice that they were onboard all the way to the end. (but they are both pretty laid back people, they may have gone along with it, thinking there would be no way I would have a small baby?)

If there is a #3, I will try for VBA2C.

Re: VBAC

I wanted to have one this time, but my Dr said no because they are worried about uterine rupture's, and if that happened it would be VERY bad for the mother and baby, so I didn't want to take that chance and went with another c-section.

Same here. I really wanted to go natural ,but my doc strongly advised against it. He said that I would have 3x more risk of something going wrong. As soon as DH heard that, he won't allow me to even think about it anymore Chat Icon
Plus, DD was 8 lbs, 10 oz, so the doc said #2 would be bigger and that's not good either

Re: VBAC

I totally planned on it until I spoke with my Doc and he strongly advised against it. I really trust him and he said if I were his wife, he would not let me do it. That was enough for me!

Re: VBAC

My dr's office won't do them, their insurance doesn't cover it.
