Vacationing with 7 month old

We will be going away next month and DS will be 7 months old. He will be sitting on my lap for the plane ride. Should we bring his car seat for the car ride to the hotel? Is there anything else I will need. Has anyone taken baby on a plane? Were they fussy? Ds is normally good but I'm worried he will have a problem equalizing.

Thanks

I had DS on a plane at 3 months and then again at 6 months. Does he still fit in the infant carrier? If so, I would just bring it. You can check it at the gate. And if he likes it, like my DS did/does then just bring a snap and go. We didn't even put him in a regular stroller.

Where are you going? If in the US you will need the carseat. If not, it would all depend on how close to the hotel you are going and what kinds of roads you'll be on.

I would definitely take the car sear because I heard that if you didn't buy a seat, but there are seats open on your flight, they will allow you to use a seat for your baby..if you are lucky...and if you bring the car seat and do not have a ticket for the baby it goes where the luggage goes (not the carry on)

Where are you traveling to?

Give the baby a bottle for take off and landing, that will help his ears.

Re: Vacationing with 7 month old

I took DS on an international flight at 7 months old and like the PP mentioned, either nurse or give a bottle at take off and landing to help prevent ear popping. I didn't need a carseat bc my father had one for us to use in Greece but I would bring in your case. You can gate check it. I brought a bag of toys as my carry-on to help keep DS occupied. He did great on the flight. Good luck!

Re: Vacationing with 7 month old

We are going to Florida and we will be bringing the carseat. I didn't want to but I know I need it. It will be a short flight but dh won't be with me so i will definitely have a glass of wine before I go. Lol

He doesn't fit in the infant car seat, so having to bring my Britax boulevard is going to be a pain, but I guess there's no way around it.

I know there is like a $40 carseat I've heard a few people mention that is great for traveling.
