vacation suggestions
I am looking for something for my family and hope that someone has a suggestion for places to go.
We are NOT a lay on the beach for a week family and neither DH nor I gamble or drink much.
We love water parks, museums, shopping, cultural activities, swimming, and if there is a spa that would be cool but not a must.
We are ok with flying but want to keep the flights and the hotel stay at about $3500. Where would you go? What would you do? We are a family of 4 with young kids (6 and 4). We would like something for a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of a week. I need ideas please!!!

Re: vacation suggestions
Washington DC is a really great place to go, inexpensive (most admissions are free) & cultural. Check for a hotel with a pool.
You can combine this with Willamsburg, VA or a beach stop (Cape May or a Jersey shore beach if you can find a hotel).

We are already going to DC for something else this Spring and will make it into a mini vacation. So I need something else for the summer. But thanks.

What about a week in Massachusetts ? You could do Boston, Cape Cod and the Berkshires. Would definitely meet your requirements for culture , museums and shopping. You always book hotels with a pool and see if you can find one with a spa.

Boston has tons for the kids to do: Faneuil hall, aquarium, childrens museum, science museum, duck tour, uss constitution. Their museum of fine arts and Isabella Stewart Gardner museums are great if you and hubby like art museums. Maybe with a stop in the cape or tanglewood on the way up or down?

Cape May, NJ- whale watching, lighthouse, bike rental, mini-golf, free zoo, and you can cross the bridge into Wildood for boardwalk/water park.
