Vacation?
DH & I have pretty big birthdays coming up this year. We want to go on vacation where there is sun but other things to do. We are not big beach people so other options is a must. There will be 6 of us. Some like sitting on the beach. So where would you go to cover partying, beach, pool, golfing, shopping, & good food? We have been to vegas and dominican republic.
ETA DH would like some place that accepts US$ and english speaking. He didnt care for DR. It didnt help that it rained the whole time we where there.

Costa Rica has TONS to do, plus beach. Almost everywhere accepts US Dollars and/or credit cards. Everyone we needed to communicate with spoke English (hotel employees, tour guides, cab drivers, restaurant wait staff, etc.)

I'm partial to St. John's USVI.
365 beaches, acres of national park and hiking trails, tons of bars/restaurants in town. All that on a tiny island.
Short ferry trip to St. Thomas for shopping, and a fun side trip to Jost Van Dyke (BVI) to hang on the beach and drink painkillers. Tortola is not too far either.
