UTI!
Yesterday, I started to feel myself getting a UTI. I have always been very prone to them and have had numerous kidney infections as well. I am in the middle of my cycle this week, so I dont want to stop BD'ing, but its becoming painful.
Here's my stupid question of the day - Do antibiotics have any effect on your ability to become pregnant? I'm in the process of searching for a more local OB, so I will probably just go to my regular doctor.
TIA!

Re: UTI!
You definitely should not be BDing while you have a UTI! I know it seems like a wasted cycle, but it's best for your own health

Re: UTI!
The first month we were going to try I thought I had a uti - went to the OB and got tested and it turned out I didn't BUT, before he even knew whether the culture would come back positive or negative he said it would be fine to continue as planned to ttc that month - he said the antibiotics (if needed) would be fine as well. However, it ended up not being one and, we ended up postponing TTC for another reason anyway so....you should ask your OB just to be sure!

Re: UTI!
I agree, it's best to wait until the UTI is gone. And you don't want a UTI to go unchecked since it can turn into a kidney infection, so I would suggest seeing a doctor and getting some antibiotics pronto.
I definitely feel your pain. I got a UTI the first month we were supposed to start trying (it hit FULL force in the middle of the night and I had to go to the hospital). Ugh.
After that I went on a research rampage, and found out that cranberry pills help prevent UTI's. So, I started taking TheraCran . (The website states that 90% of all UTIs are caused by E coli, and there is a component in cranberries that prevents the evil bacteria from sticking to the bladder walls.)
I did check with my gyno before starting to take the pills and she said it was okay.
Now, I can't be 100% sure it's the pills, but I have been UTI free since then (despite regular BDing).
Feel better soon!!
ETA: You dont have to do their monthly purchase program. I call them directly and just buy one bottle at a time.

Re: UTI!
I am prone to UTI's and take macrodantin (went to a urologist years alog) every time we BD...I spoke to my OB and he said it would not be bad to take in a preventative way even when i'm pg...so I'd ask your doctor about that. I haven't had a UTI in years since I started it. I take 1 pill after BDing...
