Urgent care vs primary care physician
Does insurance typically pay more for an urgent care sick visit vs a sick visit at a primary care doctors office?

Urgent care vs primary care physician
I don't know what insurance pays but I know my copay for my PCP is much less than for an urgent care center.

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
I have gone to City MD a few times and my co pay was the same. They do charge extra for in office tests, like strep though

Urgent care vs primary care physician
My co pay is more with a Urgent Care. I truthfully only care what I pay. WHat my insurance pays doesn't matter to me. I only use an Urgent Care when absolutely necessary.

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
Depends on your insurance plan.
With mine, it's the same copay as seeing a regular doctor.
I know others though that treat urgent care as a specialist and a specialist has a higher copay on their plan

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
My copay for urgent care is $50 while my primary is $15...
Hence I only go to urgent if an emergency!

My copay is the same, thankfully, because I find urgent care places so much more convenient.

I was going to say the same. But even if i had to pay more, I'd do it- because I love them so much. Best invention ever.

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
My insurance bills you A LOT more for an urgent care visit over going to see our primary doctor. I avoid urgent care as much as possible because it's just too costly on our plan.
ETA - We have a high deductible insurance plan, no co-pays.

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
This is interesting. I don't have insurance and I only had to pay City MD $75 when I saw them last year.
My old insurance the co pays were the same though

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
my copay is the same regardless, but I did notice on my EOB that they are billed more from an urgent care than a primary care dr.

Same here and to be honest i trust my pri care more. Ive found the urgent care places are too quick to put her on an antibiotic. So i just suck it up and go to my dr (hes further than a local urgent care) but after 2 experiences i wasnt impressed with im just going to stick with her reg dr.

Urgent care vs primary care physician
I guess we're the only ones - my DH went to urgent care last month and we had no co-pay where as our PCP is I think $15, maybe $20 so its actually cheaper for us to go to urgent care.

Re: Urgent care vs primary care physician
Urgent care copay is $70!
My PCP copay is $30.
Getting an appt with my PCP is hard. Months for check up and sick is like pulling teeth.
I sometimes chalk up the $70 just because it's easier.
