Upsetting Appointment today
I am 7 weeks 3 days pregnant. I had a sono last week at 6 weeks 2 days and there was no heartbeat. They were not too concerned and said that some people dont have one yet. When I went today the tech couldnt find a heart beat so she went to get the dr. The Dr. saw a faint heart beat but then told me the baby is measuring small and to meet her in her office so we can look at dates and compare sono pictures from last week and this week. Well the baby is measuring 1 1/2 weeks behind. I asked if that was the case last week too and she said yes (which annoyed me because they didn't tell me that last week, they said everything was fine except for no heart beat yet). BUT the baby grew at a steady rate from last week to this week, exactly the growth they want to see from week to week. So now I have to wait a week. I go back next Tuesday for another sonogram to see what is happening with the growth and the heart beat and then we will go from there. This sucks! Has anyone else had this happen with the baby behind in growth? We know from blood work what my exact ovulation date was so it isnt a matter of being off with the ovulation calculation and we know when I was inseminated so dates are exact and are NOT a factor in this. Im so upset and can't believe I have to wait another week.

im so sorry you are going through this.
can you get a second opinion? are you getting the sonos from an ob/gyn or an RE?

Thanks. I'm getting the sonos thru the RE. They haven't dismissed me yet so I haven't been to a regular OB. My plan is to just wait and see what happens next week and then go from there. It's going to be a looonnggg week. And to make matter worse, my best friend gave birth to my godson last night so I went straight from my crappy appointment to the hospital to see them and had to put on my happy face and pretend everything is great. What a day! I'm exhausted!

This happened to my friend. They waited another week to see if anything changed but the baby kept measuring behind. They ended up terminating the pregnancy and she eventually learned the baby had a trisomy (I think 14). But that doesn't mean that will be your case.

I know a few women, who went in at 6-8 weeks and heard NO heartbeat, and when they went back everything was fine, and they went on to deliver healthy babies! Many hugs to you, i cant even imagine what you are going through

Thanks everyone. Im really hoping it took a few days to fertilize and then a few to implant and that is why the baby is smaller. I was a week late and only weighed 5lbs 11oz and my mom was around 5lbs too so maybe we just turn out small babies in my family. I'll update next week. Thanks again for the support!

If I have learned anything from these boards it's to think postively but also to be honest with everyone.
Not to long ago I was in a similar situation as you. If you don't mind me asking what have your blood levels been? I too was measuring behind and was delyaed to see a heart-beat. We did eventually see one but then continued to measure behind, eventually the baby stopped growing and we no longer saw a heartbeat. It was devistating however, we have moved on and everyone here has helped. My blood levels seemed to be wacky as well so it was many weeks of ups and downs!
Many women have had more positive outcomes and I hope you are one of them. There isn't much you can do but wait which is and was the hardest part!

Thanks for your honest response. What a rollercoaster this is! I don't know what my blood levels are to be honest. They only call you if something is wrong with your bloodwork and I never heard from them so I took that as good news. So at this point I play the waiting game. How far along were you when this all happened? Good luck to you, I hope you get another positive BETA again soon!
