Updating resume

Just curious what you ladies who are/were SAHMs, going back to work, wrote on your resumes for the time spent at home. I've been home since I had my first daughter in Nov 2012 and had my second this past June. I'm not sure how to put this on my resume but I want to explain the work history gap so it doesn't look like I just unemployed. I think employers may view that as a negative if I don't explain why. TIA!

Well based on when you graduated and the gap, many will guess that there is a good chance you were a SAHM no matter what you say.

I would not put anything on the resume. You can address it in interviews.

Updating resume

I would address it in my cover letter -- and explain your skills, experience, and why you're ready to return to the workplace.

Re: Updating resume

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely leave it off my resume and maybe mention it in my cover letter. I've been looking for a part-time RN position and haven't gotten any bites. I thought that the work history gap might be turning employers off. I guess there is no nursing shortage... Thanks again!
