**UPDATE**.........HELP!!!..........I am at the end of my rope!!
UPDATE - So I took my DD to the ped this afternoon because I wanted to make sure she didn't have an ear infection. Turns out.......she has strep throat!! SO glad I took her!! SO between the strep, the tooth cutting, and the cold I am guessing it's why she's had it rough with sleeping the past 2 weeks. Now she is on antibiotics so hopefully she gets back on track and all better soon!!

I don't know what the deal is but since my DD (16 months old) got sick a week and a half ago her sleeping habits have been a disaster!! I am at a loss for what to do to get her back on track.
I use to put her down between 8 and 8:30 with no problems. She wouldn't make a peep and she would fall right asleep and stay asleep all night with no problem. Now.......I put her in bed and she screams and cries non-stop. She is in hysterics and she doesn't let up. I tried ignoring it hoping she would finally give in and sleep but no such luck. I tried picking her up and rocking her for a bit in the glider but as soon as I try and put her back she screams bloody murder and clings to me. Even if she does fall asleep she wakes up between 3:30 and 4am screaming hysterically and it's the same thing......nothing (except bringing her to bed with us - which I am trying to avoid at all costs) will calm her down.
It's been a horrible 2 weeks, I am exhausted......she was up from 2am to 6am last night. I've been trying to get her to bed since 8:30, she is currently screaming her head off and freaking out as I type. I just don't know what to do to get her back on track.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think she could be teething???? My little guy is the same age and has 2 eyeteeth coming in and has been slightly clingy at naptimes... Sure enough I checked and his gums are a bit white where they're coming in???
If that's it, try the Hyland's tablets and raise the head side of her crib, it REALLY REALLY helps!!!!!! Either roll a towel and place it under her mattress or use CRIBBLOX!!!

It could possibly be teeth coming in. She had a 100.2 fever out of nowhere tonight so maybe that's it. I don't know. I just hope this passes.

Good luck!! It really will pass!!!! Tylenol helped DS too when his teething was really bad so give that a try too

My DD does the exact same thing when she's teething.. it usually lasts for a few nights.. I would put her in her crib and when she would wake up screaming I ended up putting her in bed w/ us.. I knew it was over when she wouldn't wake up unitl the morning.. I hope you have some better luck with yours

WELCOME TO MY WORLD! I posted the EXACT same thing last week. Chloe is 16 MOS too and has been going through this for a month now. Ultimately, I believe as a poster stated, it's SEPERATION ANXIETY! Usually it occurs around 18 MOS but that isn't set in stone! I am going NUTS!

OMG sounds like misery there! I'm so sorry Kris!!! 2 weeks sounds like a loooong time to be dealing with this especially when Emme is such an ANGEL all the time!!! Ugggh! Yeah it's gotta be teething. I'm so sorry! Hope it passes in an instant!!!

Could she be hungry? My niece was like this and is around the same age. Turns out she was just hungry. Now that she is getting older, she needs more food at night.
Could it be that she is hungry?

I have been going through something similar as well-- since cold/teething, it hasn't been the same. Not all nights are the same though-- but in my case, I think she's teething. At bedtime, the extra crying I think is due to the fact that now she's crawling, and playing more-- so she doesn't want to go to bed. Who knows, I'll see how long it lasts and then see what can be done about it!

2 tings, depending on the type of bug she had...
1... have you had her ears checked for an infection. they can show up afterward, out of the blue, and could be causing her pain when she lies down.
2... if it was a stomach bug... she could be having some reflux as an after effect. my son had it the last time he got a stomach bug, complained of chest pain for a few days, a couple of teaspoons of mylanta and he was fine. again the lying down could be causing pain.

it sounds like teeth to me. I would give the baby motrin and some orajel(if you give orajel) wait 20 mins and then pu the baby back to bed.
The baby will cry for a little but eventually go back..

Sounds to me like an ear infection. Teething, for us has never been that painful for 2 weeks. I would take her to teh Dr. That was always teh only clue my son had an ear infection-wouldn't go to sleep and would wake throughout the night. Since he's gotten his tubes he has been sleeping GREAT!

Thanks for all the responses.
I think initially this all started when she got sick with a bad cold. Then she got better and her sleeping starting getting back on track for a day or two and then she started up again. Well last night we noticed her cheeks were really rosey and she was so warm. She had a 100.2 temp out of nowhere. Gave her Tylenol and fever went right away and no fever since. I checked her mouth last night (which I should've done earlier) and sure enough............one of her bottom left teeth is cutting through. I really should've guessed that's what was going on because the ONLY time she has these sleeping issues is when she's sick and/or cutting a tooth.
She gets VERY clingy and mushy when she isn't feeling well so we let her sleep with us last night and she slept great. Hopefully in another day or two this will all pass and she will get back on track and go back to normal.

Poor baby-try chicken soup, honey and maybe some ice pops(my kids wouldn't have anything to do with them but maybe yours will. She should feel better in 48 hrs. Whenever my kids give me trouble slleeping they are always sick

My mom made homemade chicken soup yesterday so we gave that to her and she loved it!! I knew something was up.........she doesn't act the way she has been acting for no reason.
