UPDATE: WE FOUND HIS OWNERS
the poor thing was running down hawkins ave in lk ronkonkoma at 12:15 this morning. he has no tags put he's wearing a harness. i posted an ad on craigslist, hopefully someone is looking for him. if you're in the area and know someone who is missing a lost dog he's a little guy, about 8# the size of a chihuahua but looks more like a mini schnauzer. he's a sweetie. hasn't made a peep. he was stinky till we gave him a bath.
please that he finds his way home
Update: Just got back from the vet...no microchip
3/18/08 UPDATE: WE FOUND HIS OWNERS!!! They posted an ad on craigslist the described him to a T! I emailed them asking if he was wearing a collar or harness and they said he was wearing a green collar. Which was CORRECT! I just met up with them and handed him back over. The family was SO HAPPY to have TICO back

yeah - try a vet's office to see if he has a chip.

My parents found a dog and I went to the local town shelter. The owner was there and left his name and #

Thank you everyone.
I called Brookhaven Animal Shelter and put in a found report with all my contact information. We put up signs all over the neighborhood, I went to a local vet to see if they recognized him as a patient unfortunately they didn't.
By the looks of him, we really think he's been out there for awhile.
I'm calling my vet today to get an appt for him hopefully tonight to get him checked out.
Here is the little guy: we named him Rosco for now!

That dog definitely looks like a Crested/Crested Mix.
Kudos for saving the dog & getting the word out.

It is really thin. I told DH I thought he looked like a chinese crested mixed with something. He also resembles our old dog pepper who was a mini-schnauzer. Maybe that's what he's mixed with.
He's so good...sleeps in the basket/bed I made up for him. Only goes to the bathroom outside, is so gentle when you feed him.
I made an appt w/my vet for tonight, we'll see if he's micro-chipped. If not, he'll stay with us.
