Update on Us
Just wanted to pop on and give you guys an update on everything that's been going on with our LO and this pregnancy. I haven't been on much for a few reasons. I've tried not to stress over this so we've been trying to keep it low-key until we REALLY knew what we were dealing with.
For those of you who don't know, we were told at our 12 week NT scan that we had a few issues that needed to be watched closely. They diagnosed us with an Amniotic Band (which can cause Amniotic Band Syndrome) and a Sub-chorionic Hemorrhage of the placenta. Both super scary -- basically only because all you can do it WAIT. Wait for nothing to happen...or worst case -- wait to be told we would lose our baby.
At 12 weeks the amniotic band was not constricting the baby and the bleed was under control so we were told to wait until 16 weeks for another sono. Went back at 16 weeks -- no change which is GOOD! Our OB said that as the baby gets bigger, the chance of limb constriction/growth restriction goes down. We were also told that our LO was *probably* a boy!
We'd been followed closely and had our Level II 2 weeks ago. It was confirmed our baby is a  !!!! Sophia will have a baby brother!!! However, when the doctor reviewed the US he said he wasnt confident that we were looking at an amniotic band at all now -- was really unsure what it was. Still wasnt constricting or affecting baby but he was worried about another placental abnormality so he suggested we go back to our Periantologist for a second Level II.
We had a fetal echo (due to my own congenital heart defects) and the second Level II today and we got the best news we could hear -- we're officially NOT looking at the possibility of Amniotic Band Syndrome! I have what's known as a Uterine Synechiae -- which is really just a "fold" in the uterus or my case, uterus and placenta. Can be the result of prior surgery like a c-section which I did have 2 years ago. It poses NO risk to our son!  Im upset it took 5.5 months to get to this point, as we've been worried sick about the what-ifs --- but at least we know all is well. The sub-chorionic bleed they saw on the placenta is now being called a "Placental Venous Lake". It's just a collection of maternal blood in the placenta where the mama and baby blood vessels meet. We're told this is typically benign as well. 
I wanted to say a huge thanks to PennyCat for sharing her story with me. I know how tough that's got to be to relive, so to share that with a complete stranger really says a lot about your character. I know your little guy is watching over you everyday.  Also thanks to everyone who sent FM, good thoughts, advice and hugs! I really appreciate it!!
I can finally relax for the rest of this pregnancy. Less-than 4 months to go!
