Ladies please keep her & the family in your prayers. They are moving her pic line today. It's currently in her groin and it's a painful process. They are moving it to her neck (also painful) but it could really help alot with the little ones development - 3,000 calories a day She misses you all very much
Update 5/23/07 - they want to do an amnio but since it may cause labor the answer may be no. The baby is showing a great heartbeat and kicking
Update 5/24/07 The baby is doing well. The placenta is getting stronger (if that is the right word) and the babys heartbeat is strong and she is kicking
DH is there daily and spends the entire weekends. She sounds great for all that she is dealing with
5/29/07 The baby is doing well, healthy heartrate and kicking. She will be 24 weeks next week and they are going to start steroids on Monday. Hyper salivation is an issue so talking is difficult
6/1/07 update The baby is doing so well!!! She is the weight she should be for almost 24 weeks and the tests are all showing that she is developing and gaining weight. They did other scans too (brain too) but those results were not back yet.
Ann is hanging in there and in a larger room with a more comfy bed DH is there daily and family/friends stop by daily as well. The pic line is not comfortable and part of the reason she cannot go home. They do bloodwork daily and the pic line must be cleaned daily (near her heart) so it's likely she will be in the hospital until the baby is delivered.
She is getting great care and always sounds in good spirits although she still cannot eat (food is not digesting). Her food is in a bag and through an IV. Ann is gaining weight though. She had gotten down to 118 lbs but is gaining now.
It sounds like grand central in her room with all the specialist that come by and all the interns that want to see what's going on. She will be a case study in the medical journals. Her symptoms are those typically seen in diabetics but she is not a diabetic.
