Update on my pup
I am so happy for this board, I get a lot of great advice.
Bailey (the black lab) was fixed a month ago and she has healed nicely. At that visit the vet discovered she had mites. She needed to go on an oral med and now a month later the skin scrape came back clean! Her hair is growing back in nicely As procedure she needs to stay on the meds for another month and after a 2nd skin scrape if it comes back clena she is considered cured.
She now has a ear infection and we have to clean her ears every other day and put a med in the 2x a day. yeah that's fun, wrestling with a 47 lb monster
As for her fear of the outside she has made wonderful progress (but still has a ways to go). We are able to walk her around the neighborhood, she still has her moments of being scared but we can always finish the walk.
She and my other baby are the best of friends and spend a bulk of the day chillin on the bed. Bailey is infatuated with my BF's sneakers so he gave her his old stinky ones. She LOVES them. Weirdo
Notice in the picture with the two puppies on the bed the sneaker is on her right, she put it there! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Update on my pup
I am so glad to hear it. It will get easier! I had similar tales to tell about Brinkley a year ago and we've been many many months without major incidents so I think we're easing into our routine.
When you finish cleaning her ears, try saying "all done!" in a singsong voice and giving her a treat. When I tell Brinkley that I'm going to clean his ears, he trots to the kitchen and sits down to wait for me. Because he knows he's getting treats!
I'm glad the mites were found so you could get her treated. It is so, so common. It sounds terrible at first, but I hear about it a lot, especially with new dogs. I'm glad she's all on the mend and a family fixture already.

Thank you. We do this after her ear meds/cleaning as well as after walks. And let me tell you she knows exactly where the treats are she and sits and waits for them.

That's what Layla does, LOL! Only she goes into the family room. Crystal, I just want to say your babies are so cute. That's so cute that she carries your boyfriend's sneaker. Layla does that with our socks that she steals from the laundry .
