Update on my dad...
A few days ago, his liver and blood came back with abnormalities, and his lymph nodes were enlarged. they also found a mass in his abdomen. A biopsy was performed, as well as bone marrow testing, and today it was confirmed. Hodgkins Lymphoma.
They're starting him on chemo TOMORROW!  I'm soooo scared of how he'll handle it. He's got sooo many other issues going on, and now this. 
He broke down when i saw him. but i REFUSED to let him see me cry. i had to keep it together, for him. at one point the nurse came in to put a catheter (sp?) in to get urine, he looked at me and said "they're not putting anything in my d!ck!"   i seriously had to laugh. so i calmed him down and told him to behave, that he should just be glad that the nurse was young and somewhat pretty! 
once they were done, i went back into the room and told him: "so, do you want me to get you a cigarette now??" totally made my day to see him give me these: 
overall, i think i'm all cried out for now, and am just focused on staying positive, for his sake. i'm convinced that had i broke down with him, it would have put him 10 steps backwards in his "umph" to fight this crap! he's a fighter, and it's no different now - he has to KEEP fighting so he can't beat this!

Positive is good...Lymphoma IS beatable. 
Be glad your docs are being so aggressive

My Uncle had Hodgkin's...he fought it , had his spleen removed, chemo and was in complete remission afterwards. Yes, the battle was HARD, I wont lie it was so hard to watch, but knowing that he would get better after it was over made it somewhat easier to bear.
So tell him have lots of hope, its treatable! You have to stay positive.

kell - fm back.
aggressive is good, but also very scary!
he's got so many things going on - including HL, he's got:
- Hydrochephalus (fluid on brain)
- aneurysm in aorta (they're monitoring that for now, the lymphoma takes priority)
- shunt has to be put in to drain the fluid, but they can't do that yet because of the mass (apparently they have to go in through the stomach to put the shunt in) 
- cellulitis (sp?) in his legs/feet
first hurdle is to treat AND BEAT the HL, and then we'll work on knocking out everything else!

If he is going to a hospital there let me know, my family works all over there...its good to have a nurse check in on the patients.
