Update on me
For those of you that don't know. I know Lauren shared my story at the GTG(with my permission  )
I had become pregnant in May. However I started bleeding and knew it couldn't be good. My Dr tested me and my hcg went from 1600 to 500 in two days. I was feeling fine and just had bleeding like in the past so I didn't think anything was wrong. I got very busy(I have a new job) and did not get my blood work. Huge Mistake!
On Monday I was in pain so I went to the ER on the advice of my Dr-he is on staff at Stonybrook. They gave me ultrasounds but could not see anything. Bad news is my hcg went back up to 1300 which is not good. He told us our options were surgery (D&C and Laporoscopy) or methotrexate. We decided on the methotrexate. I received it and we went home.
On Wednesday morning(my 33rd birthday) I woke up in intense pain and said to my husband, I am going to have to get that surgery. I was crying in pain. We went to the hospital and i was in the OR within an hour. I was not aware that you needed to be on a vantilator when under anasthesia which scared the sh!t out of me, but the Dr's and my husband were great.
After the surgery the Dr told me they had to remove my right tube because of an ectopic the "size of a golf ball" My Dr believe all of my past losses were caused by ectopics and said I had a lot of adhesions in my pelvis which can be brought on by inflammation, infection or bleeding.
I am actually doing OK emotionally. It was recommended to us to go right to IVF as the risk of another ectopic is 1 in 5! So right now I am keeping my appointments with specialists I had already made. Dr. Toth who specializes in infection and Dr Kwak who is an immunologist and we will see what advice they have. So we may be trying IVF by September or so. I will keep you all updated.

So sorry to hear about your loss . Does it make you feel alittle bit better now that you have some sort of answer as to why they think you keep having miscarriages? I know that after all my m/c's to finally have some kind of answer made me feel a sense of relief. Good luck I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I am sorry for your loss (losses)...I wish you all the best on your journey!!! I hope that it will be short....
We might be doing IVF in September as well so at least I will have a cycle buddy, if you do cycle then...

In a way, yes. But it also kind of pizzes me off that the only way to tell if you have an ecotpic is to open you up! The u/s shows nothing! Also I always had stomach issues and I am hoping him getting rid of some of those adesions will helpo me with other issues too. Thanks everyone

I am glad that you have received some answers, all be it that they are not the answers that you want. I wish you all the best as you move forward!
I find it interesting that you are the second person who I have heard this from this weeked. A college friend of mine has one daughter and has tried for 3 years to get pregnant. She saw all sorts of drs. and had constant pain in her belly region which was written off as acid reflux. Fast foward to May and she was pregnant, eptopic and when they opened her up, one tube was adhered to the bowl and the other was 98% closed. The Drs. have no idea how in the world she ever got pregnant to begin with!
Needless to say, both tubes were removed, stomach issues have faded and they are moving on to IVF!
There has to be a better way of detecting this!

That is very interesting. You would think technology would be more advanced but I guess not.

I'm so so sorry, Melissa. You know I'm here for you in whatever you need.
I know its difficult but I'm really glad that you were able to get some answers and now you have a definite road to follow. Going to all the doctors and taking charge of your fertility is the best thing that you can do.

I am sorry for everything that you have been through.
I am very happy that you are getting some answers and that it sounds like you are seeing a Dr . that you like and can trust. It also sounds as though your Dr has a good plan of action for you.
