Update on me & my new job.
Ohhh boy.. Im praying I dont regret this decision to take this job. I haven't been here long enough to have a fair opinion. So far, its okay. Its so quiet here I want to pull my hair out & just scream "LOUD NOISES!!!" like Steve Correll in Anchorman. I'm not used to an office enviornment like this Its so depressing
The commute is horrid- It actually takes me longer to get here than it did for me to get to midtown The area here isnt like it was when I worked in this area years ago. (World Financial Ctr). My desk is in a location that when I turn around, I have a full fledge view of "the pit". So, with that said. I have a constant reminder of 9-11.
I'm learning things little by little, however there is no list of procedures I need to follow, so basically Im on my own here. I have one lady that sits next to me who has been cool with helping me out with things here & there. Without her, I dont know what I would do.
I miss my old job- I miss the people, I miss midtown. I wont admit this to anyone, not even my husband!!!! Deep down. I know that once I start learning everything here & I get used to this place things will get better, but for now, Im miserable deep down inside. Changing jobs SUCKKSsS big time. Especially when you are leaving a job you loved for a better opportunity.
Sadness.

 i used to work downtown at a job that i took after leaving a company i loved but it was for a better opportunity as well and idint liek it at first either. im sorry you are having ahr time. ihope its gets better!

Awww Janie, its going to get better you'll see...once the work starts coming and you start learning new things, you're going to be preoccupied and you'll get used to the place in no time...take this time now to learn about the company, its culture and the business itself...it'll get easier...you'll see!

The frst week at a new job is the worst. It will get better, it is just hard being the "new kid" Once you start learning what your reponsibilities you will be busy & the time will fly by.

Change SUC KS! I am sure within a few weeks you will settle into a better routine and things will get better.
PS - I never heard anyone actually say they miss midtown!!

I feel your pain I'm in a similiar situation. Best advice I can give is give it a chance, make the best of it and if it doesn't work then keep looking !

I started a new job last wednesday and I am not in love with it at all. The people are nice. I just do not get the warm and fuzzies. I miss the people at my old job and certain luxuries the had. lol THis company isnt like that. I do not regret my decision but it just stinks that after months of looking for a job you take one and it is not what you thought.

why don't you come on up here next Wednesday at around noon and that should send you running and screaming back downtown

ITA! I just started a new job on monday as well and things are definetly not as i expected. I hope it gets better, if not, life is just too short!
