Update on c-section post-op bleeding...anyone have this happen??
so today I went to my OB after oozing a bit from my incision from my c-section (done on 3/27). Well turns out I have a hole. They drained it (which was a bit painful). They filled it will gauze and tomorrow I go back to see if thats helping it heal, if not they will have to reopen my incision and then I will get home wound care (somebody would come to my house to bandage every day until its healed). BOO!!
Bad news, this may delay driving. Good news, I won't be laid up or unable to do anything.
My question, did anybody experience this? Was the redoing of the incision easy? I had such a quick recovery with DS#1. The doctor said this is because of the scar tissue from the previous c-section.
sorta bummed out. I'm home a lot without my DH and just my boys (love that phrase now!!).
And side note, already done 31lbs out of the 40 I gained....not too shabby!! LOVE having a 10lb11oz baby!!!!

Re: Update on c-section post-op bleeding...anyone have this happen??
I had a LOT Of bleeding in the hospital. My incision was opened a bit. They came in on day three held me down (first warning, right?) and 'sealed' it with some stick. It had a metal name and Im drawing a blank. Look at my birth story.
Fracking thing HURT but it was over quickly. I remember it was so sudden I grabbed the doctor's wrist as she did it with a death clutch. She froze, nurse looked at me, I looked at her and slowly undid my hold. Messing with the doc who has a stick near your incision.. bad idea! lol
It healed up.
Good Luck

I had the same thing happen. I was losing massive amounts of liquid and blood from the incision. It was nasty and mine leaked for 3 weeks.

did they have to redo your incision? How painful? How fast after were you up and running? If they do it tomorrow, she said I'll be soar, but still able to move and walk and within 48 hours should be back to norm (with the wound care nurses)

My SIL had that problem. It turned out to be a staf infection and it too 6-8 weeks for the whole to close.
I hope your incision heals fast.

This is what I had happen...it opened, they had to drain it and remove some clots (just lovely), and then I had a nurse come to the house a few times to pack it and train my husband how to take over doing it. I healed up within a week and a half or so, and didn't have a need to reopen the incision.

Re: Update on c-section post-op bleeding...anyone have this happen??
Uggh, sorry this is happening! I am 6 weeks post c/s and just had my OB look at my incision yesterday since I had a small hole still and I could see the dissolvable staples!! He used the forceps to remove the staples and said I was healing ok and nothing more to do. I never had any pain, bleeding or infection.
Can I ask how you were "closed" up? With my first c/s (almost 8 years ago), I had dissolvable stitches. Never any issues. With this c/s, my OB siad he removed the old scar tissue before closing me up - internal dissolvable staples and glue on the outside (I think).

My dr had me at a drain for almost a week to avoid this..it was gross to wear it and carry it around but I never got an infection

Re: Update on c-section post-op bleeding...anyone have this happen??
I popped one of my staple the day before my first post-op visit and the thing ozzed and leaked (gross)! When I went to see the dr, he said it was ok (no infection) and it was on the end so expect lots of drainage. That was an understatement...by 3 weeks pp it was still open and ozzing and actually gushed in the office so he manually drained it (OUCH) and did a silver nitrate tx in the office. It stung but finally stopped leaking within 24 hours and then was healed within the week. GL!

My best friend had the same exact thing you did, she required wound care for a few weeks. I had oozing with mariaelena, but no hole. They used a topical antibiotic and it went away after some time.

She drained it in the office and put the cotton swab stuff on it. They didn't redo my incision, they just waited for it to stop leaking and close on its own. I had to keep packing it with gauze every day until it eventually stopped. I had to sleep on towels every night to avoid staining my bed with the yucky stuff.
I was back to semi normal by about 8 weeks.
