UPDATE AT BOTTOM: Soooooooooooo Livid
I posted a while back about planning my sisters baby shower which is tomorrow, and her friend that wanted to "help" Who even went as far as to send me an email (actually 2 emails) thanking ME for helping HER!  Then she wanted me to add this other girl to the invitation so there would be 3 of us hosting it... Fine, no problem I told her, then that would make it better to split the cost of it 3 ways. She agreed that since it was such a large shower it was easier to split it 3 ways.
Fast forward to three days ago, I send them an email letting them know what the final cost was going to be and I asked them for a certain dollar amount. Because I always feel bad asking people for $$ I asked them each to give me an amount MUCH LOWER than what it would be to split it evenly. After all, she is my sister and I don't mind. Late this afternoon I get an email from her saying that she took care of the favors and decorations and she's not in a position to help with the cost of the lunch...W T EFFFF????? So that means I get stuck footing the bill for 40 people (her and this other girl included!) because I had to pay the place in full when I gave them the final headcount.
I wrote back to her with her original email indicating she would help with the cost, and told her I felt slighted and was surprised by her indication she would not be helping with the cost. Of course I have not heard a word back.
I'm in a lousy mood today as it is b/c I received some bad news today, and if I call this girl, it will be a blood bath. I'm not a confrontational person, so I'm nervous about tomorrow and dealing with these two girls. Last thing my 8 month pregnant sister needs is drama at her shower.

I AM a confrontational person so if it were me I would call her asap and get to the bottom of it...its not fair that you should pay for the entire thing!

I like that you sent her words back to her. How could you offer to pay and then try to back out?
If I were in your position, I'd call non-stop until I reached them because I would be too livid to even think straight for tomorrow.
But since you aren't confrontational, please try to sic someone on them - someone else involved with the party.
I'm sorry that you even have to deal with such BS.

If I were you...I would walk in there tomorrow, immediately approach her, before your sister gets there, ask if she has money for you...If she says no, tell her she better sit her @ss at a table in the back and not even think about coming up front, playing the good friend and happy hostess...because she contributed squat!!!!

What an a$$. I would be furious and definetely confront her about it. If it makes you feel better, wait until after the shower so it doesnt ruin your sister's day. If she had only planned on contributing the favors, her name DOES NOT need to be on the invitation. I am sure once the shower is over your sister will find out about the situation and agree with you. Some peopel are unbelievable

I hate to say this, but all this chick wanted was the recognition. her name as one of the hosts so everyone can say "oh, so and so, you made such a nice shower. what a good person youare." and so on. and it sucks and i hope for your sake, she comes to her senses and chips in.

In all seriousness, today has been a very bad day for me to begin with and then to come home to that BS just put me over the top. I will not say anything to my sister tomorrow, as she deserves to enjoy her day to the fullest, but she will eventually hear about this. My mother on the other hand WILL absolutely say something to this person. Especially because I didn't even ask for an equal 1/3 share! Maybe at the end of the shower, I will let the Mat're D know that she has his tip.

No.. there was no miscommunication on that. It was definately clear.
They just thought they would "throw" a shower for my sister and lead the other person on to think they would help split the cost.
Anyway... The shower was awesome, and these girls are just pieces of sh!t true and true. I was snubbed the entire day by them. Then we were going to open gifts after the cake (while they cut and served the cake), which I had communicate to the Maitre'D AND my sister) So she says to me "no, we're doing games now, then gifts" So I did an eye roll at her an put my hand up at her. It continued on like that during the day, they totally disregarded me when my sister was opening gifts, and then towards the end, while I was within earshot (I was talking to someone else), I hear them say to my sister, "Oh, you have to take a picture with your shower hosts" I know she (my sister) was looking for me, but they made sure to get the picture before I could make my way over.
The best part?? Which to me completely shows their complete and utter rudeness and lack of class..... Not only did they leave before most of the guests did (a host never leaves the party before her guests!) They made sure to leave on purpose before the final bill had to be paid. They left without even a word of acknowledgement to me. WHO DOES THAT? WHO ACTS LIKE THAT? I'm ****** that I had to pay to feed their azzes at the shower. They should have least offered to cover their own plates. Azzholes in every sense of the word!
I was not going to say anything to my sister about this, but I feel soooo incredibly disrespected by the way these girls treated me yesterday. And she should really know what kind of friends she has.
Oh, and I know they didn't leave early because they had a reason to... they had plans to hang out with my sister last night, so it's not like they needed to be somewhere.
