undecided about 3d 4d
Okay so I was all for it and now people are giving me articles on why ultrasounds are bad for the baby. I soooo want to do it bc I hear its an amazing experience. I have to decide in the next 2-4 weeks...any opinions/thoughts?

I would LOVE to do it, but this whole pregnancy has been planned and I know the sex of the baby, so I want to be surprised at what they look like. Plus, I have more important things to spend all that $$$$ on.

we aren't going to do it. I just have had too many bad things forwarded to me about it- even if not 100% i figure why take the chance.

Re: undecided about 3d 4d
I did it and I think it is sooo amazing!!! If your OB writes 3d sono on your referral to the place you are having it, it is usually covered by insurance. My best friend did mine(coincidene that my Ob uses her radiology office) and I asked her about the risks. She told me that it is the same strength as a regular sono being performed. She told me that some people have to pay for it if there Ob doesn't write it on the referral. She said some don't write it because it is not necessary and a regular sono is good enough. I guess the choice is really up to you. Honestly, I feel after having it, that there is nothing like seeing your child like that. The features are so distinct. Good luck on your choice!

Re: undecided about 3d 4d
I posted something about this awhile ago. We originally were going to get a 3D sono but then these articles flipped me out so we decided not to. I may ask my dr. if he can give me just 1 picture during a regular visit

Re: undecided about 3d 4d
I think it is a very personal decision and as long as you have your doctor's consent, go for it. Although I haven't done it myself yet (I'm still too early in the pregnancy for that), I did do some research into it. Some places offer some special packages starting at $150 or so. In regards to whether it is harmful to the baby, I have read many books and internet articles on the subject (ultrasounds/sonograms have been around a long time now), and the research does NOT state that it is harmful. The 3D/4D machine is the same GE one that is used for regular sonos (in certain practices). Of course, I am not a doctor but I try and do my homework when it comes to these things. I know there is an article floating around but please do some research first before making a decision either way. Many times, these so-called studies saying something is harmful are flawed and are often used as scare tactics. Just check with your doc and see what he or she says.

Re: undecided about 3d 4d
i didnt do the 3d or 4d either. i figured i had already found out the sex thru regular sono and the baby was perfectly heatly. i wanted to save seeing the baby for the first time, at the time of delivery. i dont regret my decision at all.
