umbilical cord length?
the sono tech mentioned to the high risk doc the umbilical cord was short...dk if that was one baby or two.. I kind of zoned out and ignored it because it made me nervous but not the doc. He said do not worry about it to her and i trust him. I am guessing because I am a scheduled c-section he is not worried being I am not pushing these babies out.
Anyone else told they have this?

Re: umbilical cord length?
I wasn't told it.. but after pushing for close to 3 hours and finally delivering my Dr said the cord was short and that was making it harder for the baby to move as she wanted...

Re: umbilical cord length?
a Friend of mine who just gave birth a month ago had a short cord. The dr didn't catch it and she wound up in an emergency c section cause the baby would not descend.
After the c section they realized the cord was too short and there's no way she would have been able to vaginally deliver teh baby.
Don't worry if you trust you dr's everything will be okay

Re: umbilical cord length?
u guys have no idea how much better you made me feel. I of course looked it up online and saw downs syndrome..my heart dropped. I had a ultrascreen too that came back awesome so I guess it is just a shorter cord. Who knows..maybe that is why I had 2 previous c-sections. I am never looking anything up online again....
(ok..at least for today)

Re: umbilical cord length?
My BF had a shortened umbilical cord for her DD. However, she didnt find out until after the baby was born. She tried pushing for hours and the Drs couldn't figure out why the baby wasnt coming down. They opted to do a Csection and found that the cord was very short. Thank goodness they didnt allow her to continue to push...this could have been very dangerous for the baby and for her. So its a very good thing that your Dr. has you scheduled for a section and is being cautious. Its better air on the side of caution. Good luck with your little one!
