Umbilical Cord
Dd is two weeks tomorrow. Her cord is literally hanging by a thread. Inside the hole looks really wet. It doesn't have a foul odor. What can i do for this (if anything)

My DD is one month and her cord fell off at one week. There is nothing you can really do. If it looks red and watery you can go to your ped and they can cauterize the belly button. That's what they did with my daughter because it started getting red and oozy.

The best thing to do is just leave it alone. It'll probably fall off very soon if it's barely hanging on. It might ooze for another week or 2, but that's normal. If you see it looking infected, then call your ped.

The ped at the hospital told us to leave it alone even if it was hanging by a thread. It was hanging out there like that for a day or two and then he actually knocked it off during a diaper change one night.

DS's was hanging on by a thread - Dr pulled it out (very very easily) at 5 weeks, i believe.

We used alcohol & that helped dry it up. It fell off very quickly.

At the hospital they told me no alcohol. At baby's 2 week check up her doctor was like definitely use alcohol, that's why it hasn't dried up. So I started and it soon fell off.

Just dab it with alcohol. It will fall off quickly and heal nicely.

I would just leave it. The dr told us we could put gauze on DD's bc it was oozing a bit and ruining all her onesies. We tried that and then the gauze was stuck to her. We had to pull the gauze out and her stump came with it and it was still gross for a few days. It took just over 3 weeks for it to come off (with a little help).
