Ultrascreen sono appointment...for those who have done it already
Please don't quote!!!!
My appointment is scheduled at my high risk doctor on the 23rd. Unfortunately, It is during work hours and I couldn't get another time. My mom has been coming with me to the high risk appts. because for some reason- I haven't been able to get a decent time yet.
ANYWAY- DH said he will just go to the appt with the genetic counselor the week after, which is when we will go over all of the results of the tests.
I know that this sono is very detailed and the tech usually points everything out and stuff, but is it something that is a "can't miss" for DH? Will I regret not having him there?
BTW: I don't know if there is a difference between this sono and a regular one, but I see my OB bi-weekly, sometimes weekly, and he does a sono at every visit. DH has been to all of those appts. and will continue to go to them.

Re: Ultrascreen sono appointment...for those who have done it already
my ultrascreen sono was seriously 5 mins. she didnt really point anything out. she said the 20 week sono is when its very detailed and more fun then the 12 week. to me it was like all the other sonos. we saw the heartbeat and heard it and BAM it was pretty much done. i know she was looking for stuff but she looked and said everything looks normal. i wouldnt stress about this one JMO i think and what ive heard the 20 week sono is so much better. JMO i think its ok if DH doesnt come to this one. i wouldnt of cared if my DH couldnt of come to the 12 week. hope everything works out

Thanks.
I don't mind if he doesn't come- just didn't want him to miss out on anything...

the ultrascreen was less than 5 minutes for me as well...
the 20 week is when you will NEED him to be there...

Re: Ultrascreen sono appointment...for those who have done it already
ultrascreen can be fast if the baby is cooperating, ours was... if you think dh will feel left out perhaps you can take a camera with you that takes video and tape part of the screen- to catch the baby moving...
dh definately needs to go to the level 2 at 18 weeks....they spend alot of time measuring then

It was a 10 minute sono and you can't really see that much of the baby because it is still small. The 20 week is much more detailed and they baby is bigger and they point more stuff out.

Re: Ultrascreen sono appointment...for those who have done it already
I have mine on Friday & I asked the tech ahead of time how detailed it was bc DH knew he could not be there bc of a big business meeting. The tech & Dr confirmed it was nothing more then a regular sonogram & that the 20 week was more important for DH to be there.
So that is what we are doing

Mine was actually 45mins since the baby wasn't cooperating but it is def something that your DH can miss. It's cool that the baby finally looks like a baby finally but other than that I think it would be fine to go with your mom. Hugs for a difficult decision.
