Ultra-Screen Time

Anyone elect not to have this done? I know it's not invasive, but I'm really on the fence with this. DH and I won't terminate the pregnancy if our child has a disability. So, beyond "preparing early" is there any reason to do this? I'd love to hear your thoughts about it and why you chose what you did.

We skipped it for the same reasons as you are thinking. I kind of regreted it, though, because then I had to wait for our level 2 to see the baby again. That meant going from week 9- weeks 18 with no sonos (just a couple of doppler checks at the doc.)

I spent those two months constantly worrying that there was something wrong, there was really no baby in there, she only had one arm, etc.....so if I had it to do over, I'd probably get the U/S to help me avoid that long stretch.

We had it done mainly to use as a sonogram and b/c there are things they test for which we would want to be prepared for.

Like you , we will nto terminate, which is why we are not having the AFP test at 16 weeks.

But the ultrascreen checks for nuerotube defects which if detected, and known ahead of time..... a team can be present at birth , and or you can be prepared for things like surgery etc.

But I dont think its neccesary by any means if you choose not to have it.
