Ugh...braggers!
WHY WHY WHY must someone feel the need to brag all the time?
I'm pretty confident and happy with my own life, but man, when I'm around this person, my outlook on my life gets a weeeee bit diminshed.

Re: Ugh...braggers!
don't let them get you down. people that are hubris are usually given a taste of their own sooner rather than later.
My boss loves to brag about his custom car that costs about the same as a large co-op to anyone that will listen including super wealthy male patients of ours that one might think would be interested in hearing every detail including cost about such a car. I always chuckle when I see the expression of let down on his face after he gushes for ten minutes about horsepower & stuff & then at the first opportunity to speak the patient says "that's great Steve, enjoy it" and quickly turns to me & says" hey Kelly, how are the chickens?" Bragging about stuff you bought is trashy & annoying to the vast majority of people.

Re: Ugh...braggers!
I hear ya! you just have to try to ignore them and keep living your life. i was feeling like this last night. i talked to my close friend ( since we were 7 years old). she lives way out in the middle of nowhere in PA and her husband makes $$$, so they were able to build a beautiful, brand new house for like half the cost of our older one, and she stays home with their son. so i was talking about redoing things in our house and she kept saying " oh, you might want to do this, thats what we have in our house" or " our house has... blah blah blah". now, dh and i have a nice house thats big enough to have a family in, in a nice neighborhood... but she left me feeling like ours wasn't good enough because she was able to buid her dream house at 28 years old, without having to work

Re: Ugh...braggers!
I generally don't mind braggers. Normally I think it is awesome when people are happy and proud - as opposed to being whiney and complain-y like I am most of the time!

I have to say- i generally feel this way too. I think it's because most people i know- they really worked hard to be where they are, and they're just proud, so i'm happy for them.

Re: Ugh...braggers!
When people start bragging to me, I usually hear them out and find some polite way to reply. However, when I really think about it, I generally feel bad for people who have the need to brag. I feel like if they are so desperate for validation or approval that they constantly have to tell me how great their life is, it really must be missing something.

I work with someone who likes to brag about how much money her husband makes. It's delightful. Her life is perfect, too. It amazes me on a daily basis.
