ugh summer fevers...how do you get them relief?
luce has some sort of cold. he's been spiking pretty high fevers at night the past two nights.
last night when we got home from our trip his temp was 104.9 it goes right back down with Motrin and we sleep in the A/C so he's ok at night.
but today is a HOT one. and we don't have central air. my MIL isn't really a fan of the ac anyway...but I just feel like he's going to be miserable. a fever in the heat??
I dosed him with Motrin before I left for work but he is just a little miserable b/c he's not sleeping well to boot. and of course being with us the extra time this weekend made coming in to work so hard.
blah. so I guess this is a I HATE BEING A WORKING MOM when my kid is sick vent as well as a how do you handle summer fevers wwyd?
any tips would be great. my poor big.

I would recommend that your MIL gives him frequent cool baths...to bring the fever down and to give him some comfort.

Mil may have to put the ac on. It will help keep him cool. I also agree with the coller baths, and piggy back the motrin and tylenol. Hope he feels better,

Re: ugh summer fevers...how do you get them relief?
holy sh** this is Jack RIGHT Now!! Since yesterday he's been spiking..i havent taken his actual temp but his body is burning hot. Motrin brings it down and then he's in a semi good mood until fever spikes again.
on top of cutting 2 molars and congestion like i've never seen...
This must be some cold going around..
I'd like some tips too. but other than keeping motrin on and keep giving liquids theres not much we can do until the fever breaks.

Chels has this too now!!!! We're keeping the ac on and dressing her light....I wouldn't recommend the baths bc i have heard that it can bring the temp down too fast and cause a febrile seizure. I've also been piggy backing motrin and tylenol! Feel better Luce!!!

Re: ugh summer fevers...how do you get them relief?
I hope Luce feels better soon. When Joshua had his 1st fever a few weeks ago on a particularly warm week, I made sure to dress him really lightly and we turned the CAC on although we had originally wanted to wait. I just didn't feel comfortable with him sleeping in room that was 80 degrees at the time.
Have your MIL put the AC on, this will help keep him cooler and more comfortable. Dress him in something really light and have her take a cool (not cold though) washcloth and run it over his forehead and neck, face, maybe his arms, just to refresh him a bit.
I've had many a summer cold and they are the worst.

Re: ugh summer fevers...how do you get them relief?
thanks guys.
you know the funny thing is that I never had ac growing up. and I know I've had plenty a summer cold and it was uncomfortable but fine. there is just something about MY baby going through it though...makes me forget that these comforts are so much newer than babies and colds.
ETA: I hope Chels and Jack feel better soon!!!!

Dress him light. Keep ac on. Cool drinks. Smoothies. Ice pops.
