Ugh, rough day...
Had my hospital tour today, and it just really hit home that my husband is not going to be there to help me through this (he is in the military and will be away at training when I deliver).
It was so depressing being there with all of these excited mom's and dad's-to-be.

oh.. i am sorry...It must be tough... I am sure he will be there with you mentally - I know its not the same... will you have other loved ones with you to share this with?
Any chance of a webcam? Or a video that you can share with him after??

My DH is also in the military and we're awaiting word on his deployment status right now. Most-likely, he'll be deployed for the baby's birth as well. I've been mentally preparing for it and its hard to even comprehend that he won't be here.
You're incredibly strong and he must be VERY proud of you. If you ever need to talk feel free to FM me.

I am so sorry to hear that. I'm a former military wife and while I didn't have any kids during our time in the military, I knew lots of women who had babies while their husbands were deployed. What I do know is that lots of them had their husbands on the phone egging them on (even in the delivery room) and others were able to do web-cam chats right after the baby arrived. Also, many guys received priority R&R so they could be home to see their baby as close to the birth possible, some even for the birth if the timing worked out. I know none of this will ensure that he will be with you and I will be keeping my fingers crossed that (in the great military tradition) something will change and he can be with you in person.
