UGH. Need some serious advice here. Please give me your thoughts.
Found a wonderful home, about 40 minutes from my parents, who watch my son when I go to work.
Both me and DH work 12 hour shifts. Both of us get home very late.
DS just turned 2
The issue of the house being far from my parents is an issue, because what happens when he starts school? who will get him at the bus stop? since we both work relatively late, it's not like he can do after school programs and be picked up; we work pretty late.
& I wouldn't ask my mom or dad to drive to go get him, KWIM? They do so much for us already.
is there a solution?
i can not change my shift. DH might be able too.
anyone else have this predictament?
it sucks b/c here we find a great house, and it's perfect except for the location.
advice? opinions?

Maybe you can get lucky and find a classmate's mom who would like some extra cash. Otherwise, sounds like you'll need to hire a nanny.
Are you ever thinking of a second child? Either way, I'd seriously reconsider the distance from your parents. Having them closer will be so helpful so often.

It sounds like your quality of life would suffer if you lived 40 min away from your parents. Is there any chance they will be downsizing & moving in the near future?
If not its probably best to narrow your search to towns within 15-20 of their house.

it doesn't get easier. i wouldn't do it.
