TUESDAY EVENING UPDATE: Back from the doctor...
So I went in and they did the internal ( ) and when they measured the baby, it is measuring a week behind. He said it could be that I O'd late and that the ultrasound has about 5 days of wiggle room, but that he was concerned about it.
I had my blood drawn and I go in on Monday morning to see if my levels are doubling. I also have another u/s on Tuesday and they will give us the results of the blood tests then.
He said that he couldn't definitively tell us if this is a viable pregnancy because it just looks like a blob -- no pole, heartbeat, etc... He said that could all change by Tuesday's appt but that the blood test will be the big indicator.
I don't want to be nervous or worried, but I can't help it...
Update: My doctor's office just called and they said that my bloodwork looks good! They said now we just wait and check the levels on Monday and see how those look and then adjust the EDD if necessary
Feeling better -- hoping for good numbers on Monday!! My hcg needs to more than double (cross your fingers!!)
UPDATE Monday 7/28: I went in this morning and had my blood drawn again. I go again in the morning for an ultrasound and blood test results. Pray for more than doubled levels and a growing baby!!
UPDATE TUESDAY 7/29: Well we went in this morning for an u/s and they can see a yolk sac but no pole or heartbeat. According to the u/s tech, our baby is measuring 5 weeks 2 days, which is a week behind what we thought. We met with the OB and she said that they haven't received the blood work yet (UGH!) so they don't know if my hcg levels have doubled or not, but that they were 1800 on Friday and they need to be 6000 by the six week mark. Ideally, when they get them back today they should be 3600+. She very sympathetically told us that this could be a blighted ovum and that this might not be a viable pregnancy since we are still measuring behind. She also said that I have a subcorial (?) hemorrhage in my uterus and that is what is causing the spotting/bleeding.
I really want this to be a viable pregnancy more than anything else in the world, but truthfully, it's not looking very good. She will call me back sometime today with the hcg levels and that will be the big tell-all as to whether or not this is a viable pregnancy. I don’t know what to feel right now… I don’t want to get upset or happy before I know exactly what is going on.
UPDATE TUESDAY EVENING: I just got the call from the OB and my hcg levels are 4600!! WHOO HOOO! They are still concerned about the hemorrhage but they measured it today and hopefully it won't get bigger by next week. I have an u/s on Tuesday of next week and we should see the h/b by then!! I am so excited! Thank you for your prayers -- I am a firm believer in the power of prayer and I am really thankful for all my LIF friends

Re: UPDATE: Back from the doctor...
Keep your head up Liz! If you O'd late, then you are only 4 & 1/2 weeks.....so wait until you get your blood test results and get the 2nd sono....i will be thinking of you!

Re: UPDATE: Back from the doctor...
A few days can make a lot of difference at the beginning. I had my first sono at 8 weeks (based on my LMP), but was measuring 1 week behind. The tech explained that that there's a +/- 3 day window in terms of the accuracy of the measurements, similar to what your doctor said. My doctor moved my EDD back 1 week. Since then, has been measuring 1 week ahead although my EDD is still the same.
Good luck! I hope everything is ok.

Re: UPDATE: Back from the doctor...
You were only supposed to be 5 wks and 5 days right? You may have o'd later and then you wouldn't see anything but a blob on there.
Hang in there- I know how long you have wanted this
