Re: TTC for #2 - irregular periods
wow crazy! I remember when you were having your first! I saw your posts before I have my m/c last summer! Congrats on your little girl and good luck on the 2nd time around
There is no telling when you will ovulate unless you temp...but ovulation kits are huge help! I found the fertility monitor to be the best for me but I waited a while before I invested in that. It's definitely a tricky thing and no exact science!
Good luck!

Re: TTC for #2 - irregular periods
welcome back and lots of to you. My periods are irregular as well. This is only our 2nd month trying and I haven't O'ed for May yet hopefully within the next 3 days. I'm just temping for now, maybe you can try that.

Re: TTC for #2 - irregular periods
I say just like 3 or 4 times a week.
Or you can do those tests where you pee on a stick and it says if you're ovulating or not.
for you!

This is what we are doing this month since I was so completely off with my AF last month. It also makes it more fun that way.

Re: TTC for #2 - irregular periods
I'm really irregular too - I just got AF today (CD36!), the last two months were 33 days and the two before that were 28 days.
From what I've read, the luteal phase (time between ovulation and AF) is more consistent and should be used to determine O. Personally, I went on Babymed.com and put in my average cycle and looked to see their estimate on when I'd O.
From a website:
What is the luteal phase?
The luteal phase, also referred to as 'days past ovulation' or 'DPO', is the part of the cycle that starts at ovulation and ends the day before your next period. It usually lasts about 14 days and does not vary by more than a day in each person. The luteal phase is named after the corpus luteum (Latin: "yellow body"), a structure that grows on the surface of the ovary where a mature egg was released at ovulation. The corpus luteum produces progesterone in preparing the body for pregnancy. Your luteal phase must be at least 10 days long to support pregnancy.
The importance of the luteal phase
The length of the luteal phase determines the time of ovulation within your menstrual cycle. Ovulation can be delayed by a number of factors, such as stress, increased activity or medication, but the length of the luteal phase is usually constant. Taking this into account, you can calculate the time of ovulation within your cycle by subtracting the length of your luteal phase from the length of your cycle. For example, if your cycle is 28 days long and your luteal phase is 12 days long, the ovulation will occur on day 16 of your cycle (28-12=16). Ovulation Calendar uses this formula to calculate your time of ovulation.

Re: TTC for #2 - irregular periods
Well...........I always had irregular periods and I got pregnant with my DD with the help of an RE so now that I am working on #2 I am back at the RE again. I am on Metformin to help regulate my cycles and Clomid to help my eggs to mature. If you don't want to see a doctor about your cycles I would try temping at home, using OPK's, or getting the CBEFM. Personally, I would see an RE and not waste time but that's up to you. Good luck!

Re: TTC for #2 - irregular periods
I hear ya. Last time it was 56 days!!!! But before that was reg, 31 I think [and no bd since we were oot!!!], and before that it was a few months.
My schedule is too irregular to temp, but I am OPK every day and BD every 2 to 3.
I have pondered a fert monitor, but I don't know much about them or the $$$.
I talked to DH about seeing a fert dr but he thinks they';ll say we haven't been trying long enough, even though we have BD 5 mos since we started in July - and I am34 so close enough I say lol
