ttc and medication?

did anyone have to taper down their medication before beginning TTC?
i cant function without my meds. i take 3- one helps my nausea which i get every time i eat. imagine how i'm going to feel without that medication when im pg!!! ione of my MDs seem so flip about me being without my medication. another wants me to take something that can cause serious side effects to me but no harm to the baby. and another said im going to be in a lot of pain, stress and no sleep. he didnt even sound like he thought i should bother.
what the eff? im stressed even thinking about this. anyone dealt/dealing with this?

This is going to be long....I choose to taper down stomach meds before we were TTC. I knew I wouldn't feel super comfortable taking much in the first trimester. I'm not sure what stomach problems you have, but I have GERD and had a stomach ulcer about 8 years ago. It's healed now. I've been diagnosed with IBS, but in a nutshell. I have a bad stomach.

I tried to slowly wean off of prilosec (even though it's a class C drug and you can take it if really necessary). My OB said prevacid would be better during pregnancy if I need to take it. However I stopped quickly because I got a BFP after the first month of TTC.

I'm almost 10 weeks pregnant now and I'm not going to sugar coat it, it has not been easy on my stomach. I've been mostly homebound due to really bad morning sickness and I am nauseous 24/7 I've lost some weight, but my doctor prescribed Zofran last visit and it seems to be helping a bit. By no means is it perfect, but it is totally doable.

Oh, no don't apologize. It's really not that bad. I think it's way worse typed out than it is.

I hope I didn't scare you. Although I've been sick it's a really exciting experience albeit uncomfortable, but exciting! My point really was to try and get as much under control with your stomach as possible, but if you can't or don't it's not the end of the world.

Re: ttc and medication?

i did....i started to taper down in may to a smaller dosage. then in june i tapered down to the smallest dosage. and we started TTC in late July.

i was very nervous to get off the med completely, considering m body has been dependant on them for 2 years.
but i saw my gyn and a specialist, who told me i need to be off of it before i get preggo, so i had no choice but to get off if i wanted another baby.

it is hard, but i tried not to stress to much about it , because then i would get anxiety and make myself more nervous. i just took everyday as it came, and everyday as another day my body was ok without the med.
