TTC and depression

I have a history with depression and with having a hard time TTC. Everytime I am "out" start sinking.
I was out on Saturday and I just am having a hard time focusing. I feel like I want to cry all the time. What do you guys do to stop the TTC blues?

Re: TTC and depression

same here. i stop my meds months ago so that I can have a clean body and I am a wreck. I'm 8 days late for my period, no BFP, and 2 1/2 weeks away from my wedding.

im assuming the stress isn't helping me at all.

whenever I get anything close to the blues, I think of my sister and all she went through to have babies (everything short of adopting) and her 3 beautiful children and I know that it will happen eventually, I just have to be patient.

I get super depressed ever month when I get AF. I think these boards help but they also make it worse in a way. It's great to be able to vent and get it out but at the same time you could come on on a day where everyone and their mother is getting a BFP and it will make you feel like even sh*ttier.

I was thinking about trying to get to some yoga classes, I think just clearing my mind might help. Maybe you could give yoga a shot too?!

Re: TTC and depression

Ive read that exercising can give you the same results as a smalll daily dosage of antidepressants. I can atest that working out definitely helps with depression and anxiety. The only thing is that it's harder to do than swalloing a pill.. but it's a lot healthier for you and your future baby.
If you suffer with severe depression, you should see a therapist to discuss what you're struggling with. They can recommend the best way to deal with it while TTC.
I have heard of women being on antidepressants while pg, but if its not a moderate-severe case, I'd suggest focusing on keeping your body healthy, eating right and exercising more. It really does do the job!
Good luck to you!!

I go running early in the morning, it helps me re-focus and I feel a LOT better emotionally when I get back home. Even if its just for a short walk, just some time outdoors in nature can do wonders for your esteem and health.

Re: TTC and depression

If you have a history of depression and are on meds now( or have been before) , there are a few that are considered safe during the TTC period and Pregnancy.

It all depends IMO, if it is a constant feeling of depression or when you get a BFN you feel Chat Icon for a few days and then move on to the next cycle. If your depression is affecting you that seriously , most Dr's and OB's rather you take meds then have an unheathy TTC experience or pregnancy.

I know one person who took Zoloft during her pregnancy and and another who took wellbutrin , their depression /mental health issues were too serious to go off, both had healthy babies Chat Icon

i feel the same way..

its hard to come on here and see all new faces and old ones disappearing onto the pregnancy board..not that im not happy for people, it definitely gives me hope, but the transience of this board is difficult..
i also found that i obsess more about some stuff that i otherwise would not have obsesed over..
i dunno
its hard all around for all of us struggling after a bunch of months
