Trying to decide between Maclarens - which did you get?

How come the Quest is double the cost of the Volo? Is it just the design or is there an actual difference?

The Quest seems to have better reviews.

The quest reclines more than the volo does, and has a few extra features - like a leg extension etc. If you are thinking of putting a smaller baby in them I would go with the quest - we had one for DD and she isn't very comfortable in it. It is much better than the volo though. Honestly I think they are better for older children.

So you think the Volo is better for older children vs the Quest is better for younger ones?

What do you consider an older child? I plan to use the Maclaren stroller once our baby outgrows his baby stroller (when he is 22 pounds/29 inches).

Well honestly my friend has the Techno and she put her son in it very early and it was big for him- but fully reclines. I would highly recommend that stroller and wished I had spent the money for it. Especially b.c it has MUCH better wheels.

BTW the Quest has a 4 position recline I believe (and it doesn't fully recline) but the Volo only has 1 position recline I would go with the triumph before the volo.

Can I ask what you plan to use the stroller for - city use? LI, every day? Long walks etc?

I got DD the Quest at like 9 months and honestly she wasn't very comfortable in it - she still doesn't like it a lot at 18 months - but I think the older they are the better they like it. The reason I say it is better for older children - is that honestly it doesn't look very comfortable for them, no snack tray which is a BIG help if you are doing errands, the wheels shake and the ride is not smooth unless you are using it in the mall or similar surfaces. It does not recline very much so DD doesn't nap comfortably in it. Also it has a very small basket so you really can't get much of anything into it - and if you put a diaper bag on the back the stroller will tip back when you take the baby out. So it is better for moms who don't have as much to carry (diapers, bottles etc).

Now having said that I DO like it for quick errands - like running quickly into a store and not wanting DD running all over. It is lightweight but not a LOT lighter than my Zippy which DD loves.

Listen I know some people love it! But honestly it was not the best stroller I bought. I found from talking to other moms and from my experience - that strollers are very different to different moms. In the beginning I found for me personally I loved my snap n go and my zippy (inglesina) for very different things and reasons. The snap n go was great for errands - but the zippy was fabulous for walks in the neighborhood, longer trips etc. As time went on I got a Jeep all terrain one - that we use for long walks, and other longer trips b.c it has great basket room, it is very comfortable for DD (who rarely likes to be in anything these days) and the big wheels make it easier to go on grass etc.

I will say I wish I had done more research on the Maclarens and either coughed up the money for the techo or gone with another lightweight stroller with a snack tray (which to us is important b.c when DD gets fussy on errands being able to give her a drink or snack can make all the difference). At 6 months that isn't much of an issue but in a few months when they start self feeding it made a difference to me.

BTW you also never know when a baby will reach 29 inches and 22 lbs - DD was 9lbs 4 ozs at birth and at 1 year was only 29 inches and 20 lbs 1 oz.

Sorry that was so long.Chat Icon
