Truly scared or just delaying bedtime?

miki has been flipping out when it is time for bed, screaming telling me she is scared of everything and anything... (her clothes, the paint on the wall, the water in the humidifier, tinkerbell on her wall, etc)

I do not know if she is truly scared or if she is jusy delaying the inevitable (sp)

Today for nap, after she flipped out twice, I held her and told her nothing is going to bother her, etc and she went to sleep so I think she may be truly scared

I am assuming this is a normal thing, a phase that she will grow out of, right?

Chat Icon I hate seeing her all worked up like that, she wasw hyperventilating before Chat Icon

It doesn't sound like delaying bedtime to me. It sounds like it's a phase but she probably is scared.

I know people that made Monster spray with white water or used to make an invisbile safe bubble around their kids to make them feel safer.

I don't really know what the answer is. I lay in my kids' beds before bedtime & we talk about what dream they're going to have so they can pick a good one.

I like the idea of talking about what dream she will have but I know if I lay in bed with her, that will be a hard habit to break....I do kneel on the floor and talk to her for a few minutes before bed so I can add this into our talk

thanks Chat Icon

Today on Caillou the mom turned his pillow over to the "good dreams side" Chat Icon Maybe that's one you could try????
I wonder if it's just an attention thing, since it started so soon after Kevin's arrival maybe she just enjoys having you "all to herself" for those few minutes?

Re: Truly scared or just delaying bedtime?

so tonight after a LONG day of TOT'ing...I put miki into bed and pretended to spray "magic spray" all over her room that would keep her safe

she reminded me to spray her name letters above her bed so I did

I am going through the same thing lately. Leah wants to sleep with the light on and then will wake up in the middle of the night a freak out if we don't leave it on Chat Icon
I wonder if it's an attention thing but my friend was telling me that now is when they start to dream and remember it. Maybe she doesn't know what a dream is yet and can't realize the difference between dreams and reality. I am with you! Chat Icon
